The Anchor Hotel & Bars

Stopped here yesterday for one night as it was low cost and we was on a budget! Walked into the bar and it smelt awful so i was worried about our room but once in the room I felt better as I could smell bleach and everything seemed really clean.Bed was comfy enough and we both had a good night's sleep... however we got bk at 12.30am and there was a lady who had locked herself out her room and had no key so I helped by calling the number that was at reception to be then greeted by the most misrable woman! I didn't no if she was annoyed because she had been woken up but im sorry that's all part and parcel when you work for a hotel and have your number available for any enquiries or issues.I didn't eat at the hotel purely because of the smell of the bar...if it wasn't for the rude older lady I'd of maybe stopped here again but unfortunately wont be doing so.Dont like giving my money to rude unfriendly people.

Came in and asked to move the tables together as we was in group of 7 and got told by the guy with blue hair that we was not allowed with no reason given. Then when we ordered drinks one of my friends asked for a glass of coke and got served Pepsi, never got told it was Pepsi or even asked if that was ok. Then we got served our food and all the breakfasts we had were cold. The fish and chips were greasy, sat in a pool of oil. Think they haven’t changed the oil in over a week it was disgusting. Will not be returning.

Popped in for a drink at night and were not wowed!! Staff very lethargic and not very hospitable. Drinks were vastly over- priced!! No atmosphere to speak of. Will not be returning!! Avoid if you are on a budget!!!
