Creta Royal - Adults Only

Perfect location on the beach with wonderful sea views from your sun bed. The staff are so friendly and welcoming always on hand to help. The hotel never feels crowded even if it is busy. The two pools are small there’s enough room to swim lengths in or just cool down in which is all we needed. There are plenty of sun beds no sun bed wars here. There’s so many spread out over the gardens and the beach you can always find some. Bar service is good never had to wait long for a drink. Great selection of alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. As a non drinker it can be monotonous in an AI here you have mock tails , soda water and decent coffee as well as the usual coke etc The food is excellent great selection every day all buffet which suits us. The desserts are fantastic. There was a bbq night around the pool on Thursday the effort made was incredible totally transformed the area. The food was all served buffet style outside and the staff were as attentive as always. There was entertainment on Sunday and Thursday a singer guitarist and a keyboard which were great. If you want a lively hotel with West End style entertainment this is most definitely not for you! If you want a quiet relaxing break in wonderful surroundings with a friendly laid back a**osphere this is for you. The majority of guests are German we saw no British here not sure if that would effect a holiday certainly wasn’t an issue for us. The garden room we stayed in was recently renovated and had everything you need. Our room was cleaned everyday to a high standard and I am fussy ! Minibar had 2 beers and some non alcoholic drinks didn’t really use it as drank in the bar. This isn’t the kind of place to come to if you want to drink loads and party you’d be very bored and frustrated!!!! We are booking again for next year.

We are scheduled to go this coming Friday. A war broke out in the country we are living in (Israel). All flights have been canceled so our flight to Greece has been canceled. We tried 10 days in advance to get our money back for the pre-payed reservation. They refused to refund the money. DO NOT PREPAY THEM FOR A RESERVATION. if an emergency happens you will not get a refund.

This place is paradise. From the rooms to the food to the staff to the setting. The whole package was incredible. Our room was superb, lots of little gifts left for us to celebrate our honeymoon. The food was freshly made and incredibly tasty. Washed down with local beer too. We were greeted every morning by the wonderful staff, who were polite and helpful. The views from our room were perfect and enhanced the relaxed nature. We got the bus a few times into local towns and villages. €3 for a return ticket was great value. The Creta Royal was the most perfect place for us to spend our honeymoon. Thank you for making it very special.

Location on the beach was perfect. Really friendly staff, especially the bar staff. Rooms were great and they even left a cake in the fridge for my partner's birthday (we hadn't told them so this was a nice surprise). Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing week of sunbathing

Friendly staff, very very quiet, nice pool-area, nice hotel, ok food. This is an adults only hotel, so very strange that the pool bar closes at 17.30 when that is the nicest time to relax by the pool and have a drink. No lounge music, very poor cocktails, not what I had expected from a “5” star adults only hotel. The “gym” was not for free, a small room with 3 machines - once again not what we had expected.

So, let’s give the Creta Royal a fair review…. Firstly, in my opinion this hotel is the low end of a 4 star hotel. If you are seeking luxury, this isn’t the place for you. Things we loved: the pools, the staff, the late checkout shower room, the gardens and the newly renovated rooms are clean, comfortable but at the same time, quite basic. Things that the hotel needs to improve; bug control (the crickets woke us up a lot snd I got bitten 56 times in one night in the bar despite covering myself in replicant (in fairness to the hotel I’m not sure if this has something to do with the heatwave but either way, bacause of the continuous gardening, the bugs are deserved and they should spray like many other hotels do). My friend was bitten multiple time by a jumping spider that we found in our room. There is hardly any Greek food at the Buffett, the meals did give both of us a bit of an upset stomach on a couple of days. It was an average temperature of 36 degrees and we weren’t allowed to use our inflatables in the pool (only in the sea but for 5 days it was too rough. We found this really silly as there were only 4 people using our pool most of the time and we did offer to push them out if anyone got in), the sunbeds I think are new but they are rock hard and very uncomfortable. We saw multiple people having to strategically sit on them or they flip. It would be a nice touch if you were brought drinks to your beds….you always have to go yourself. Things we really hated; the dark blue tiles by the pools (half of the tiles are anti slip and then there are rows of super slippery tiles. The 1980’s decor in the common areas (reception, restaurants etc and the terrible smell of sewage that greets you in the main restaurant before eating. The hotel location is not ideal (we should of researched it more to be fair) as there is only 1 taverna within walking distance and a taxi to rythermo will set you back a €25 taxi each way. If you’re looking for a good value hotel on a budget I would definitely recommend this hotel. If you’re seeking luxury that you’d find in a Marriott, 4 Seasons, Ritz Carlton etc this is definitely not the hotel fir you. We wouldn’t go back as we need a little bit more from our very cherished holiday. Thank you Nikos the waiter whom was a delight!

4.5/5, All in all it was a really good holiday. On the food side there is plenty to choose, fresh and it tastes very well. Service and personal were the cherry on top, always friendly and happy to help with stuff even outside of the hotel.

Highly recommend this hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We went in the first week of May and it was so peaceful! 50/50 on the weather, but when the sun shone it was such a gorgeous place! Beach is lovely and quiet at this time of year! Adults only experience was excellent, but the sister hotel was good too when we wanted a more lively a**osphere! Our room was brand new and very clean! They even surprised me on my birthday with a cake brought by room service, which was a wonderful surprise and made the day very special. Lovely little souvenir gift on check-out. Would highly recommend going in to the Old Town area of Rethymno - a £20 taxi ride away. Not much to do around the hotel, so perfect for a relaxing stay with a day or 2 out and about by taxi. Overall excellent experience (despite the weather at times) - would definitely stay again!

A very nice experience! Not too crowded and you will always find sunbeds.
