Bamboo Jam

We booked this for two couples 5 nights. Big mistake! It’s very run down, the beach is picture perfect, but that’s it! Pillows were mouldy and mattress, sheets smelt dirty, towels threadbare. Bathroom outside, cold water but needs re fit. Breakfast was poor, one tea or coffee or juice, one choice, extras charged at $3 per coffee. Staff are volunteers, not much idea about the island. We left as soon as we could find anywhere else as Chinese new year. Staff didn’t care

We arrived on the beautiful island of koh rong samloem for our 6 night stay , the staff knew we were coming and we were the only people left stranded on the beach .we had to organise our own tractor to bamboo jam , following is a list of negatives and positives about this place , Negatives . Room wasn’t ready . If you are in a family villa behind you have no real beach area to sit and relax in the sunshine . Door had smashed glass . Towels threadbare . Under beds filthy with huge rat traps under . Bathrooms wet all the time and very dated . Safe would not open .(we told staff but nothing happened ) Breakfast limited options and not particularly nice . Hammocks smelt horrible to relax in . No tea, coffee facilities or fridge in rooms . Wall fans extremely noisy . Rooms small with no bedside tables . Beds extremely uncomfortable. Apart from pac a lovely guy from Cambodia who was very helpful, the staff certainly did not make you feel welcomed Twin villa certainly not worth the money , twice as much as beach front villa but less space I’m sure there’s more but il stop there . POSITIVES Beautiful Beach 🙏 Gorgeous island , I know I wanted the chill out vibe, but please look elsewhere if you want a little bit of extra special paradise for the same money .

It is difficult to make a real rating scorer - but read the review! We arrived in windy weather therefore - We were dropped off at another pier far from Bamboo jam - Vicki and staff were ready and picked us up with a "transport". We are a family of 4 and they didn't think the children should go with the luggage - we really appreciate good and unexpected service. On arrival at the beach bungalow, we were very disappointed with the standard! Worn, leaking, with many faults and defects 1. In the evening there were cockroaches and other insects in the bathroom. We immediately got an insect spray available. On the 1st morning, we pointed out several errors and that we did not think that the standard lived up to the price in any way! All the staff are nice and understanding - all our pointed out details are continuously corrected and fixed. New railing on the balcony, the faucet in the bathroom was fixed, a defective hammock was replaced, etc. We asked for a discount on the price - it is not accepted after the staff did contact the "boss" - however we are offered a bottle of wine and a "discount" when we eat at their restaurant - which must be said is very very good. All the staff are really nice and helpful. It is free to fill up the water tank. We stayed here for 6 nights over Christmas 2023! There was a constant wind coming in from the beach - so violent that it was not possible to enjoy the beautiful outdoor areas at this place, no yoga, no movie night. But always a pleasant and positive atmosphere. We are now informed that there is often wind on this beach in December. Every day we went to beaches on the opposite side of the island - where there was shelter, it's an easy 30-40 minute walk. We wish all the staff all the best - but hope that the "boss" (who is not present himself!) will lower the price by at least 2/3 as this "beach bungalow" for 4 people is not 180 UDS per night!!!

Bamboo Jam is unique and we loved the whole experience! The staff are lovely and always on hand to help, if you want collecting on arrival from the pier, just ask! Our bungalow was situated right in the beach, with our own table and chairs, plus a hammock for our personal use. There is no hot water, as stated in their description, but who needs hot water when it’s this hot?! Sometimes you might see the odd lizard or spider, but you are bordering on the jungle and they were here first. Believe me, they’re more scared of you than you are of them 👌 The restaurant is a few steps away and serves great food with plenty vegetarian or vegan options. The brilliant thing is that they DONT USE PLASTIC which is a massive problem around the island. If you want a shiny 6* resort, then you’ll be disappointed… BUT if you want a magical island getaway, with a bohemian vibe you will find it here ❤️ Personally we have loved every minute and would come again in a heartbeat 💗

We ate here three times whilst staying on Koh Rong Sanloem.. the first time was a bit of a fluke as we’d just got off the boat from Sihanoukville and wanted something for brunch/lunch as we hadn’t eaten all morning. This place killed it!!! Can absolutely recommend their guac on toast, hummus with crudités & garlic bread, guac burger, fish burger, vegan schnitzel burger and the burtaco. Not to mention they have the BEST Pina Coladas everrrr! They blend their mix and it has a very good amount of alcohol and proper coconut milk! Also if you go from 6pm-8pm it’s happy hour and you get 2-for-1 on cocktails. Other great things to mention are their craft beers, my husband tried all three and loved them every one! Lastly, massive shout out to Pack, he was there every time we visited and made it such a welcoming/chilled out vibe of a place. Thank you again Bamboo Jam!

Super nice and cute bungalows, with your private beach, hammock and table in the sand, just 5 steps away. All the staff welcomed me with a smile. And I enjoyed it to talk to them during my (Single-)Lunch, bruch whatever!!! The Rooms get cleaned every day, and they do it great. Ema, the owner, is very considered to keep everything clean, especially food, water and ice. So at their restaurant you can be sure that you only will get good stuff. (You can't say that from the other restaurants at the beach, some of them are very dirty and the ice for the drinks, I think, is normally for the refrigerator, but not for drinking) So, all in all it was the perfect choice(not only because 3 min walk away from piere) I would sure come back to this place and Ema. I think 4 Stars is the best rating I can give to the bungalows (service 5, and location 5,) Because I want to keep star Nr. 5 for the 4+5 star hotels to be fair! You will not disappointed to visit Bamboo Jam, that's for sure Greeting Tom

A Haven for Rest and Relaxation… Bamboo Jam is a wonderful hotel located in Koh Rong Sanloem, Cambodia. It is an excellent destination for those needing a total switch off. The vegan and healthy food options make it amazing for a detox, although a wide selection of beers and rose wines mean you can enjoy the best of both worlds! The staff are friendly and helpful, always happy to share the other delights of this stunning island. The overall atmosphere of the hotel is very relaxing. One of the most unique features of Bamboo Jam is the stunning view from the beach front huts, you can hear the soothing sounds of the ocean while you sleep. The food at Bamboo Jam is excellent. All of the local curries, fresh fish, vegan and healthy dishes are beautifully prepared and are very tasty. The staff are very helpful with explanations of the extensive menu, always making sure that everyone is happy with their meals. Definitely the best food on the island! The hotel is also very clean and well maintained. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the hotel staff go out of their way to ensure that all guests are happy and comfortable. Overall, Bamboo Jam is an excellent place to stay. The vegan and healthy food options are excellent, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is perfect for relaxation. The yoga platform overlooking the sea, and beach front huts offer a unique experience that you won’t find anywhere else. If you’re looking for a place to rest and relax, Bamboo Jam is the perfect choice.

Loved this restaurant, fabulous food with lots of vegan options as well as meat. Just such a nice relaxing place to chill in. Went back a few times & every meal tasted fab. Great WiFi too even worked after the storm when most of the network went down.

The restaurant is special clean and the food delicious ..fresh and healthy we really enjoy it ! It have planty of charme ! The staff was great the ambience with nice musik the best on the island ! We will go back !
