Starlight Mountain Lodge

My son and I stayed here in April 2025. This was an Amazing experience! The room was great and the "main house", where meals are served and other activities are enjoyed (billiards, games) was fantastic. Victor and Myra were kind and gentle hosts, and the meals were superb. Finally, the property is very serene and the views from it, of the rolling hills and valleys, were "to die for". I highly recommend this place!

A lot of people start the Quilotoa Loop from Latacunga, but we decided to bus to Sigchos, stay the night there, and start the trail in the morning. I'm so glad we did! The Starlight Inn has a great location very near the trailhead, and the view from the yard/camping area is amazing. We were greeted by the owner who showed us around, invited us to enjoy coffee/tea and enjoy the common areas (very nicely decorated, rustic but cute, homey and comfortable). Dinner and breakfast (and coffee/tea) were included in the price and they even offered vegan/vegetarian etc, a rarity in Ecuador! The food was great and plentiful, I felt like Heidi sleeping in the top bunk in that lovely wood house/mountain setting, and there is even a perfect room for yoga upstairs. The staff were so friendly, we sat up talking til late. Altogether a great experience, perfect way to start the trail, I highly recommend it (especially compared to what we heard from those who started from Latacunga, not nearly as fun).
