I'm not a fan of writing bad reviews but feel I need to be honest about this one, so I'm just going to do a pro's and cons. We visitited the hotel for skiing for a period of 6 nights leading up to the new year. My wife and I plus a 11 and 16 year old on a half board basis. Pro's Good location on the main square in Santa Christina. Good Pool, two Jacuzi's and 3 Sauna's (including a fun ski lift converted one). Recently refurbed with a kinda 70's chic theme, nicely done. The Room cleaning team was excellent, in and out like Ninja's, sometimes within a few minutes all done and refreshed for you. The public ski bus runs from right outside the hotel which is very useful. Afternoon cake and fruit was good, image attached. Cons When we arrived no information was given at all. No question as to whether we had been to Val Gardena before or if we knew how anything in the area worked or was accessed. Any questions were answered politely but you don't know what you don't know so how do you know what to ask. We then had to discover everything ourselves or by accident, like the hotel has a ski slope ferrying service, when we did discover it, they would never take us to any of the lifts that we wanted to go to, it was always "there is too much traffic" or we dont go there (even if it was 200 yds from a lift they did go to). We had wanted to go to the the Danterchepes lift and the Monte Pana lift, for the easier slopes for our 11 year old, the latter lift is in Santa Christina itself but was too far away apparantly. The food was terrible, 6-7 course attempts at haute cuisine, done badly and with no choices, not what you want when you've been skiing all day. They would cook basic pasta for a child or give you a bowl of fries as an alternative by special request. We chose to mainly eat out and only use the half board dinner as a snack. We stayed in the largest room I think the Royal Suite (or something similarly grand in title), it had two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a living area (good size), but it had no ammenities at all, only soap and shower gel in wall dispensers, so no shampoo, no conditioner, no nail file (the latter you could get from reception). There were no coffee or tea making facilities. No complimentary water. Nothing. Not what you expect at this price point and in their best room. The cost for 6 nights was euro 8215 (admittedly including New Years eve which had a slight premium), we stay in nice places all the time and are happy to pay the price but the service recieved wasn't anywhere near commencerate with the rate. The took my booking deposit on Amex but then when I came to settle the main bill had stopped taking Amex, not a problem for me but again on top of everything else just annoying. Some further trivia worth noting, our friends were staying directly across the road at, I think it's called the Hotel Dossers. Their food was way better with more choices, their slope ferrying chap we actually saw dropping off in Monte Panna itself, totally
