Definitely not worth the price. Service at the bar was unthinkable. Asked about a gin tasting and was told I had to reserve it even though it was before it was suppose to start! Customer service for a 4 star hotel was worse than anywhere else we stayed in southern Germany. IMO the only positive was its great view of Neuschawnstein. Every other 4 star we stayed in had a complimentary mini bar.

5/5 stay. Stayed with 3 kids, toddlers to teens. Two bedroom suite (‘Schlossl’) with a crib was more than enough space. Perfect view of the castles from the balcony. Room had great AC. Breakfast buffet was great with lots of options. Dinner was top-notch with great flavors and unique cocktails. Only negative with dinner were the stray wasps that seemed uncommonly attracted to our table and whose nest the hotel was unable to find. We were busy with the castles, but it looked like the hotel had easy access to bike trails. The castles were nine minutes away by car; we had a 0955 Neuschwanstein and got there around 0830. Plenty of parking that early, maybe got there too early. The pool was heated with great views of the castles and the spa had a lot of quiet, cozy areas for rest. We saw a few other families there, mostly with older kids. Our toddler did /alright/, but there were some elderly German guests that seemed entirely too put-out by his presence. Hotel isn’t kid-focused, but the staff at least were warm to the kids. We got by with English, but it’s a German hotel for German clientele. We would stay here again, for sure.

I visited for four days at the beginning of November with my wife and two adults daughters. We found the hotel very comfortable, the staff very nice, and the food excellent. I highly recommend the hotel as a base for days visiting Neuschwanstein Linderhof, and Fussel. Unfortunately, our guide at Neuschwanstein was very robotic, but that was not the hotel's fault.

Like a fairy tale. This hotel is so charming , and by leaps the best hotel in the Schwangau area (the hotel itself and the location). The bartender here is one of the best I’ve encountered in the world. The restaurant is one of the best, if not the best, in the area. And the staff are so nice - especially the general manager who resolved something that came up during the stay. If you go to this area, stay here.

We visited 10 years ago with the children, who are all grown up now. The family business has grown and changed a little but retains a lot of what we love. The staff are attentive and friendly. They struggled with my celiacs disease at first but got it in the end. Initially they took the route of omission which left me hungry. They need to offer choice and point out what is available which they did when I got eventually got upset. The staff really wanted to help. However, they need to be careful not to make the person with dietary issue which is not a life style choice feel like a problem. I am normal and not the disease itself. I have normal needs and wants like anyone else on holiday. I personally hate to stand out for the wrong reasons. It can be rather embarrassing. The chef worked hard to ensure I felt special. Please offer cake to a celiac at cake time, not a dessert. Be careful to bring desserts from the fridge to temperature before serving. I think introducing a gluten free choice without making a song and dance about it would be better, it is very simple to cook and bake without wheat. There such be no waste as you can freeze portions. Lable things that people like me can eat. Cross contamination can be a problem with buffets. Some things were lost in translation as often happens, but generally this is still the BEST family run hotel in the world. It’s a very special place. It could be a little disconnected at times and information for English speakers isn’t great but we managed. There is good all round communication between shifts and teams. The rooms are super clean and well cared for. The housekeeping staff are discreet but friendly. The owner himself is very visible which I like. There really isn’t enough pool and hot tub for the amount of guests really. The hotel is growing and the rest needs to grow with it. A lovely out door winter hut with fire pit would be a lovely addition and get guests interacting. Too much emphasis on couples. My husband felt the alcohol was a tad expensive, €44 for a whisky. I think more sales would be possible with better more realistic pricing. I’d like to see a proper log fire/snug and I’m sure they notice that the front desk/bar/lounge is very disconnected and in the wrong place. It doesn’t invite people to stay a while and is more like a large long reception area. We felt the bar lacked ambience and after one evening didn’t use it again, which was a shame on a long stay. The view from our room was incredible but the odd setting in the room wasn’t working. The bed faces the view but the tv off off to the side and only one arm chair. Last time we stayed we felt the restaurant was too gourmet and they’ve fixed that issue somewhat. For us and other Brit’s I’m sure what they want is larger portions, traditional German food in bistro style. I know my husband prefers that. The food was pretty but sometimes lacking taste.
