Van der Valk Hotel Schiedam

The staff at the reception are not very helpful, my laundry was lost for 5 days as the laundry is only done on week days and takes 2 days to get it returned. As I stayed in February and March the room is very cold, maximum 17 to 18 degrees Celsius. As I came for business I was lacking socket at the desk for the PC and a note pad for taking notes. Housekeeping could be improved and opening hours of the gym didn't match with my working hours for exercising. Breakfast buffet is very good, only opens late in the weekend for working people. Parking system is not flawless. Would not advise hotel as price is too high for the service rendered. I'm already staying for more than 10 years in a Van Der Valk hotel in Belgium location and there the price- quality ration is much better. I think Van Der Valk Schiedam suffer too much from the Dutch attitude.

Great visit, new accommodation, easy access to the highway and lots of parking. Great wellness with amazing pool, perfect water temperature and great views over the city of Rotterdam and the port. Lovely breakfast as well. Will return !!!

There is simply nothing to point any fingers at… Perhaps that the minibar was empty.. that I couldn’t eat more at the extremely large and high quality breakfast buffet.. and the same for the lunch buffet.. That i couldn’t concentrate at the seminar, because of the outstanding view on 25th floor. This Hotel is highly recommended.

Had dinner here in the buffet restaurant. And it was overcrowded, not hygenic and health hasard. Please avoid. 50 euro for this bad quality of food is an insult. Under cooked or burned food, spoons touched by guests in the food, glass on the floor, chefs touching the food with their bare hands.

I recently stayed at Hotel Van der Valk Schiedam and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The hotel boasted a convenient location and provided a comfortable atmosphere for relaxation. The room was spacious, well-furnished, and had an ambiance conducive to a good night's rest. However, during my stay, I encountered a notable issue with the room cleanliness. There were visible stains on the blanket, which was disappointing and detracted from an otherwise enjoyable stay. This oversight in maintaining the cleanliness of the bedding was unexpected and could have been improved upon to meet the standards I anticipated from a hotel of this caliber. Despite this setback, the staff were friendly and accommodating, ensuring a smooth check-in process and addressing other inquiries promptly. The amenities provided by the hotel, including the on-site facilities and dining options, were commendable and added value to the overall experience.

Hotel Van Der Valk in Schiedam is recently opened for business and offers the amenities, routinely found at a Van Der Valk hotel; hotel rooms, a restaurant, a bar, a congress center and a coffee lounge in the lobby. As I live nearby, the chances that I will book a room here are very slim, but I like to go to Van Der Valk for lunch or for coffee. Mostly I choose the establishment in Ridderkerk (good coffee and delicious cake by the way), but since the opening of Van Der Valk in Schiedam, there is opportunity to get coffee and cake closer by home. But after two visits I must conclude that the coffee lounge in Schiedam is not fit for purpose and I will go to Ridderkerk again the next time. I will tell you why. The first visit was just after the opening time of 10.00 am. The staff was not welcoming and acted if they were new in the job and didn't enjoy their job very much. But the coffee and cake were OK, although the bill was rather stiff. The second visit was a disaster. There was not one table free, because all tables were occupied by single persons, working on their lap tops, nursing a cup of coffee. If that is the function of the coffee lounge, then the casual visitor should stay clear and go elsewhere.
