Delmont Hotel

Visited this weekend and booked a premium room, on entering the room it was awful old dirty threadbare carpets, furniture from the 80’s dirty awful room. Swapped room to recently renovated one, small but clean, went to get a shower didn’t work, went down to complain and the receptionist came up to check it and as stated didn’t work. She gave me the key to next doors room to take a shower and you guest it, yep didn’t work so I gave it up as a bad job. Will be writing for a refund. Terrible hotel the worst place I’ve ever stayed, find somewhere else as this shambles of a place is a waste of anyone’s money. And believe me I am not making this up, Alcatraz had a nice view of San Francisco Bay but you wouldn’t wanna stop there.

Visited Scarborough without booking on our way back from Nairn so basically had to take what was available, the room we had was quite small for a “deluxe double “ but the bed was comfy and the en-suite a good size, a fantastic sea view and an excellent breakfast, the best nights sleep and the best breakfast I had all week.

The staff were first class helped when I needed to get medical services to see my Dad as he had a fall and required help. Also the English breakfast was nicely cooked and fresh. Also, the receptionist is helpful in where to park and obtain a permit. Also where good for a drink outwith hotel. Only downside I'm not a fan of dogs in hotels as noisy when trying to sleep.

The hotel is in a lovely convenient area close to all amenity’s, with spacious updated modern rooms. There is soap, shower gel and shampoo provided as well as two plastic cups in the bathroom. Tea and coffee facilities are also in the room, with plenty stock. There is a small wardrobe with coat hangers & a hair dryer in the drawers. The staff were friendly both on arrival and check out and very helpful. Breakfast is available at £11.99 per person but we didn’t go for that, we walked down to the oasis cafe a few minutes away and had breakfast for £11 for both of us. There is plenty of parking both on street and on car parks and for street parking you can get a permit from the hotel (payable) or it was £10.90 for 24hrs O a car park 10 minutes away (we didn’t mind the walk). We stayed in room 106 which wasn’t a sea view room but we had a lovely view of the sea/bay. (See images) The reason for 3 stars is because of some minor irks. The shower was cold, manageable but still cold not even luke warm. The temperature was on the highest setting and we tried both shower heads (just incase). The hot tap in the bathroom is also not hot/warm. Me and my partner don’t have long showers 3-5 mins max each usually, but by the time I had finished the bathroom had started flooding because the water was draining so slow. There is also no bin in the bathroom and it was annoying having to go back into the bedroom to use that bin, a bin in both the room and bathroom would have been helpful. There is a blind in the bedroom but it doesn’t fit the window correctly so I was woke up to the early morning sun shining right in my eye (obviously this wouldn’t be for every room, it depends where the sun rises). The beds are a small double but still comfy. Overall a good stay.

We stayed in one of the modern rooms,top floor with panoramic views of the North bay.the room was very quiet during our stay,the bed was comfy too.we paid for breakfast which was very tasty & plentiful with lots of choice. Over all a lovely stay

On a last minute booking to Scarborough for the visit of “El Galleon”, travelling as two adults and a teenager, we booked this gem of a hotel. The staff were very accommodating and we spent the first (of two nights at the hotel). We managed to get the last room that had a partition between the main bed and sofa bed, room 103. Although at the side of the hotel, it had views all across the north bay except for the castle that was very nearby. The room was very clean, well presented and honest, as was the hotel. The location of the hotel suited us perfectly and either bay was only a short walk and luckily they had availability for the following night only, so we booked that and again found the staff friendly and happy to help. Breakfast was extra but very well prepared and the full English was freshly made. Staff even noted a music t-shirt and managed to play music of that group. A nice touch and appreciated. Parking was easy as the hotel offers permits for the streets and parking in these restricted zones isn’t a problem. The hotel enjoys great views from the cliff and plays music through speakers at the front and in reception, not loud or dominant, but being appreciative of music, this was a nice touch. There is a lift but the front of the hotel has steps leading from the road. On the whole, we could not have asked for more from the hotel, the location or the staff. Definitely one to return to..
