The hotel is located in a great place, The aesthetic is perfect for the building. If you are disabled you may want to give this hotel a miss, as even if you specifically ask to be near a lift when you book they may put you in a room with no lift access at all, and the staff are not very helpful or accommodating even when you have a disability that is affected by stairs. The queue to check in was over 50 minutes even though we tried to check in much later than 3pm. The hotel has a lot of stairs, the room was not spotlessly clean but adequate and came with all the basic requirements. The view from the windows was great. Overall this is an ok budget hotel that is only suitable if you are able bodied and can deal with a large number of stairs.

Cleanliness was very bad as my duvet cover and sheets were dirty and stained. I reached out to the staff to request for a clean one but they weren't helpful and never got it changed. The hallway carpets were dirty and there was a general bad odour in the hallway and across the hotel..The tables in the bedroom and restaurant were dirty. The facilities look generally old and worn out. I won't recommend anyone to stay there.

A heritage hotel. I don't know why the hotel does not have a proper left luggage facility for guests. It should be a standard facility like other hotels.

Unexpected sea view and big room. Totally worth it as a single room.

Only two staff across the whole hotel can serve for the queries and there js long que at reception so we have to wait  half hour to raise the request and another hour for the query to be addressed…. No parking space at all.

Over 30 mins queuing to check in then finally went to room, the room was disgusting not the cleanest mould damp on walls what made paint peel off, squished bugs on ceiling above bed I couldn't sleep was so paranoid it fall on me, the room smelt disgusting, first time staying here and definitely the last. Was so paranoid the bed were filthy I tried to sleep on top of covers.

Very poor facilities, the floor, bed, and windows were all very old. The bathroom door couldn't close properly. The hairdryer made strange noises when turned on, followed by a burning smell. The soundproofing was terrible, I could clearly hear people talking outside the room. There was no air conditioning, only a fan. Not sure if it was due to the burning smell from the hairdryer, but the smoke detector went off twice.

1. Check-out Time Is Too Early In my experience, most hotels—whether five-star establishments or smaller boutique hotels—allow guests to check out around 12:00 noon. However, for such a large hotel with a rich historical background, the check-out time of 10:00 a.m. feels unreasonably early. It is particularly inconvenient for guests who wish to have breakfast, as the kitchen closes at 9:00 a.m., making the entire morning feel rushed. This aspect was disappointing and should be seriously reconsidered. 2. Luggage Storage After Check-out As a frequent traveler who has stayed in many hotels across different countries, I have never encountered a situation where luggage storage after check-out was not available. Typically, guests are allowed to leave their bags temporarily while exploring the city and return later to collect them. Unfortunately, this was not possible at this hotel. I found this quite surprising, especially considering the size of the property. As a result, I had to carry a large suitcase while visiting the beach and dining outside, which significantly affected my experience. This policy made me feel that guests are not sufficiently accommodated after check-out, and it was quite disappointing. 3. Room Facilities I understand and respect that this hotel is nearly 200 years old, and I have no issue with its age or character. Overall, the room facilities were acceptable; however, the water taps could benefit greatly from modernization. The current rotary-style taps are difficult to operate, requiring considerable force to turn on and off. This could be especially challenging for elderly guests. Additionally, when I entered my room, I noticed that water was already running slightly due to the tap not being fully closed. If the hotel were to gradually replace these taps with more user-friendly designs, it would not only improve guest comfort but also help conserve water in the long run. I believe this would be a worthwhile investment.

It looks lovely on the outside over and hour to check in only one person on desk no one greeting gave us a room with sea view no window handle and window open the catch broken to window also.room was filthy one bath towel for two of us and no shampoo and conditioner available no hair dryer says included pool no pool at the hotel have to pay the royal hotel over road to use pool.parking horrible.fridge filthy food bits and hair in fridge and bath dirty woodlice everywhere and sewage smell in corridor and bedroom also bedroom was either like a sauna or ice box asked for help and was suggested room move went back no room move.apart from night desk worker who was extremely helpful rest was so helpful and no understanding left feeling unhappy and let down by the service and quality provided

Really nice view and pizza place nearby. Love to see beach and birds in front of you when you wake up. But should consider about the cleanliness. Staff is super nice and joyful.

great location and great we could take our dog we will be back very soon as there is lots to explore in and around scarborough

Got a good room with sea view. Staff helpful and friendly. Price very fair .

50 minute wait to check in. Room had not been cleaned when eventually got our key. Was like a maze trying to find our rooms and only 1 lift to get to it. Awful experience
