Secluded hostel in an old smugglers cove on the North Yorkshire coast. This place has lots of atmosphere, it's nestled in woodland at the end of a small lane and you can walk out of the door onto the beach. The Cleveland Way coastal path passes through the property, walk for miles along the cliffs with amazing sea views. If you arrive by car (and the only alternative is to walk) you have to negotiate some steep, narrow lanes. The parking is away from the hostel, so you have to carry your stuff down the lane. The staff were friendly and helpful. There's a cafe open during the day. The private rooms are overpriced in my opinion. Rather off putting were the "alphabet rights" multicoloured flags. Not sure what this has to do with YHA, or hospitality towards paying guests. Are staff allowed to use the property to promote whatever political agenda they like? This hostel is used by school groups so it's inappropriate to say the least.
