Grand Hotel De Rose

Lovely hotel right on the beach. Very clean, well kept gardens and pool. Great view of the beach from our room. A lido at the beach with free chairs and umbrella. Had a delicious lunch. Service is great and servers are really nice. Delicious dinner at their restaurant and breakfast was good too. Had a wonderful stay. Highly recommend it.

It is hard to put in words a very special experience that brings the best of many aspects of a great vacation. The superlative staff no one excluded, seems to be out of a different kind of professionalità very rare to find. For sure you may have a few people that are great hosts here and there all over Italy but grand hotel de Rose had one unanimous way to attend guests which is unparalleled to any other place I have ever been. The charming athmosphere , the cleansiness and the high quality of the food does not compare even to most 5 starts hotels with perfection in many details maybe but no personality . Grand Hotel De Rose has a bit of everything that is real and comfortable which is important to feel which is a feeling to be cared for and finding a home away from home. A true little gem in Calabria . Thanks to you all !

The Grand Hotel de Rose is definitely not grand & barely a 4 star. Our room was nice - a 2 room suite, with 2 balconies & lovely views, but that was about it. They couldn't do laundry with a 24 hour turn-around on a weekday, the lobby bar was always empty & we had to go to the front desk to get ice & water, then they had to go lord knows where to get it for you. Sent on a bit of a goose chase to get a quick dinner down to the beach club by the front desk. She then sent us back up where I had to insist to the front desk that the beach club manager also insisted dinner was being served in the hotel. Then he remembered the it was.. very unattractive bright dining room with limited selection, but the fish was decent. Doors to the rooms are very heavy, old-style & hard to open or lock, so doors were banging all night with people being locked out & babies crying - sound really carries in these halls. Had 2 nights of rough sleep. Breakfast is depressing - only fresh fruit is either rotten or hard. They do have a nice selection of cornetti, but that's about it. Got down to beach club the next day & when we asked for towels, were told we had to go all the way back up to reception to get beach towels - ??? So we did, and then were told there weren't anymore. So we said we'd use our room towels & all of a sudden they found 2 grubby old beach towels for us. Seemed like whatever we asked, the answer was always no, however, there was an older guy on at night and a lady at the desk at checkout that were both much more helpful. The beach is nice and water beautiful, but hotel was just dark & depressing.

Really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is clean, beautiful pool and gorgeous beach position. It had plenty of sun loungers!

The location of the hotel is perfect for those who love the sound of waves and the beauty of nature. Dining at the hotel's restaurant was a culinary journey. The food was exquisite, with a menu that caters to all tastes. Each meal was a masterpiece, prepared with the freshest ingredients and presented beautifully. The ambiance of the restaurant, paired with the stunning views, made every dining experience memorable. The facilities and amenities were top-notch, and the cleanliness and attention to detail were evident throughout the hotel. Whether it was relaxing by the pool, enjoying a cocktail at the bar, or taking a leisurely stroll on the beach, every moment was perfect. I cannot recommend the Grand Hotel de Rose highly enough. If you're looking for a place with exceptional service, fantastic food, and unbeatable views, this is the place to be. I will definitely be returning for another unforgettable stay!

The hotel is ideally located adjacent to the beach in Scalea. They have their own beach club which is both relaxing and convenient. Beautiful view of the beach from our room and the restaurant is amazing! The chef creates magic, his food was at the highest level of the competitive fine dining restaurants in town. We really didn't need to leave the hotel.
