Ah, the festive spirit was alive and well when we sat down for our much-anticipated Christmas turkey meal in the St Brides Hotel Restaurant in Saundersfoot. Who needs a feast when you can have a plate of minimalism instead? The turkey was present, sure—a slice or two, as if the bird had been rationed for wartime. And the pièce de résistance? A single, solitary potato, perched on the plate like a sad little Christmas decoration no one wanted to hang. As for the vegetables—Brussels sprouts? Carrots? Green veg? Forget it. Clearly, Santa's sleigh must have skipped the produce aisle this year. Who needs the joy of a vibrant, balanced meal when you can embrace the austerity of beige food? Oh, and let’s not forget the missing stars of the show—pigs in blankets! Not a whiff of those delightful, festive favorites. Without them, the plate felt more like an incomplete Christmas wish list than a meal. A Christmas dinner to remember, indeed. If you're into culinary disappointment and festive underachievement, this is the meal for you! Cheers to the chef for reminding us that, sometimes, it's the thought that doesn't count.
