Hôtel Château de Verrières & Spa Saumur

This is a perfect base to explore the Loire valley. It is situated in a secluded part of a vibrant town but within easy reach of bars and restaurants. We quite by chance were there at the same time as the vintage bicycle festival which really added to the experience in the town. Really good fun in the evenings. We hired 2 good electric cycles from the hotel and explored the countryside. The hotel itself is absolutely lovely. Very very well apponted large suite which was comfortable and very cool as we had mid to high 30' temperatures. The pool was lovely and the grounds too. Not all the staff could speak very good English as we do not speak French but they all tried really hard and it was not a problem, The owners were lovely and it is nice to stay in a privately owned hotel. Self service breakfast was excellent with a good choice. They do not do evening meals but it was nice to wander into town to eat the festival being and added bonus. Had a sandwich and drink by the pool which was very good. The dining room and all the public rooms are really lovely. Would certainly recommend this lovely hotel

What a magical chateau- steeped in history, small but majestic and an oasis of green within the city of Saumur. Beautifully presented, friendly and helpful staff but discrete service and their presence only when needed. Outdoor heated pool also a highlight. We loved our stay and will definitely be back!

Flore, Jeremy and all their colleagues in the Chateau made us feel special from the moment we arrived. They have a beautiful place – we loved the fact that it was small and intimate but with all the touches that made it feel very special, managing to create the rare combination of a feeling of luxury and splendour with comfort and relaxation. The pool area is gorgeous and it's very easy to spend many hours relaxing here, but Saumur centre is only a short walk away with many places to eat and drink. We have come back home feeling rested and relaxed and with wonderful memories of our time at the Chateau - we cannot fault our visit and are looking forward to returning next summer.
