Hotel Mikligardur

No tv but we didn t miss it. Very basic in a true Nordic style, we did enjoy it and would stay again. Very clean, good parking and easy and friendly check in. Don t miss the restaurant just outside the hotel, Sauda I think it s called.

Loved staying in a school dormitory! Expect a smaller bathroom as such. Blackout curtains don't really help much. Ask to stay in the back side as there's a basketball court in the front. If kids are playing that bouncing ball will drive you nuts. Ample breakfast!

Nice location, good breakfast, plentiful parking. No onsite restaurant - nearby Sauda is withing walking distance, but was extremely crowded. We went to Hard Wok Cafe for a so so meal. Overall it was a comfortable stay.

While this property is a converted college dorm, it is quite an upgrade from any college dorm I am familiar with. The whole property is clean and well appointed. Staff was very friendly and helpful. It is a perfect place for a quick stop on your Iceland tour.

I stayed here for one night: during school holiday they are transforming the dorm-room in a hotel for tourists . The rooms were small but clean - quite sufficient for one night. They are close to the village (aprox 15min) in case you need lunch/dinner. The breakfast was standard .

The thing you need to know about this property is that it is a school dormitory turned hotel for July and August. Now if you know this, the hotel is great. If you expected other you will likely be disappointed. Now it is clean hotel with newer furniture. No TV. Overall this was a great stop over place for our last leg of the ring road.

Nice, but scandinavian minimalist. Rooms are small because it used to be a school. Clean and modern. Within walking distance to the bakery and restaurants.

This hotel was booked for us by Guide to Iceland. If you want to feel like you are in a college dorm then this is the place for you. Pros: easy to find as it’s a large orange building. Free parking. Front desk agent and artist was friendly. Cons: outside ramp is bumpy and not easy to drag your luggage. Carpeting in hallway has bumps for easy tripping. Our bathroom was so small that one person felt crowded inside. No toilet paper holder so you had to reach over your head (see pics). Shower door didn’t touch the floor so water got everywhere. Slight sulfur smell in shower. Soap smelled heavily of cheap perfume. No mirror outside the minuscule bathroom for partner. Dark shades barely did anything (see pics). Breakfast was in a huge cafeteria-like kitchen yet couldn’t procure a hot breakfast. You had to walk across the kitchen to add milk to your coffee. No television in the room.
