Our third and last time at this hotel. We have loved the previous 2 years but this year it has changed and not for the better ! In the space of 1 year, this place has turned into an old folks home and you can really see this in the age profile of the reviews which are being written, moaning about the amount of children, the noise they make and buggies everywhere. Speaking to the guys who run the water sports activities, they have also noticed this change, not many active people anymore, only those who eat and sleep and repeat. This hotel has an identity crisis: are they a family hotel or a retirement home ? Because the 2 do not mix…. The staff remain pretty much the same which is great in some aspects: breakfast and lunch are always good (Melisa on the omelette station is a bundle of joy and energy), the service especially from Muammar is very friendly and attentive but dinner in the main restaurant is still sub standard and not good enough for a hotel of this rating. The choice of cooked food is very limiting and the quality really is not good. As a smoker, the drastic change in policy due to a few of the older generation and some families complaining is the main reason I will not be returning. There is a fully shaded non smoking area on the beach which is where most of the families are based but to ban smoking altogether ? I get it that some people do not like the smell but to ban smoking on the balconies and on the beach completely is something I cannot accept. Yes it’s my choice to smoke but to be treated like a leper I will not accept and all that while paying 20% more than last year ! Whilst the new manager has made some good changes and improvements, he needs to decide what the target audience is for this hotel. If he decides that it’s money over everything, then families will not return, the water sports will disappear and it will become a very dull hotel. If he opts for a family oriented approach, then further improvements are necessary and he needs to promote the water sports a lot more than the spa ! My son got his catamaran license in just 9 days under the great tutoring from Suat who owns the water sports facility, an extremely passionate man with 35 years of sailing experience and his love of kids shines through ! It’s a great shame that the hotel don’t promote these facilities and they will lose them if they keep on the current path
