Hotel Santa Susanna Resort

Take no notice of other reviews myself & my sister had a great time here in oct 23, rooms cleaned daily, staff very friendly, other guests were amazing. The cup thing is easily overcome by going the supermarket and purchasing 10x large cups for €2 which the bar staff are more than happy to refill. The food is plentiful with lots of options for all diets. We will return here next year as it was so good.

Stayed here 16th-23rd July. Couple with 2 teens. The hotel is old but quite clean, beds are made everyday and fresh towels are given, although on one day they took the dirty ones and didn't replace them! We also had to ask for toilet roll a few times. The air-con was fantastic and we were always cool in the room. The food was hit and miss, there was always something to eat but by the end of the week we were a bit fed up, there was plenty for breakfast, we only went in for lunch twice but the evening meal choice wasn't great. The little pots of ice cream were nice though. The token/cup situation wasn't as much of a faff as we thought it would be and the strength of a drink was determined by which member of staff served you, some were more generous than others. I did find the bar staff a little bit miserable, although the one who wore a white shirt was a little more friendly than the rest of them. There wasn't enough room round the pool to accommodate everyone and we only went in once as we could barely move. It's a small pool but that didn't stop people from using huge inflatables and getting in people's way. The walk to the beach was a killer in the heat but its not actually that far which was good as that's where we spent our days as nothing much goes on at the hotel. We also had a day in Barcelona, the walk to the train station is 10/15 minutes and the journey is pretty straightforward, much cheaper than booking through the hotel. The main issue with this ‘resort’ is its clientele. I understand that it's a 'you get what you pay for' type of place and it's 'what you make it' but people allowing their kids to run riot while they live it up in the bar should be unacceptable anywhere, unfortunately it seemed to be a common occurrence. We were on the 2nd floor and door slamming, knocking on doors, running up and down, screaming, shouting and just general disrespectful behaviour was constant. Also, we couldn't tell if it was a neighbour or above us but someone was dragging furniture across the floor EVERYDAY! We enjoyed our holiday for the most part but this hotel isn't for us and we wouldn't go back again.

This hotel is a zoo and food is crap everything you drink is in a plastic cup breakfast is the only time you will see a cup so you can get coffee or tea for a 3 star all inclusive holiday this hotel is 1 star at best Santa susanna the area is great and lots to do Find an other hotel Santa susanna resort hotel is the worst

Hotel atzavara was fantastic, Santa susanna has a nice beach although we hardly used it. It's really handy for train to Barcelona and we're we visited, Girona. Plenty of restaurants and bars. Nice place. Would go again.

This hotel is clean and tidy and all staff apart from old tall guy very friendly . If you want a quiet holiday not for you no organised entertainment for kids so they spend lots time running around screaming ( didn’t bother us ). Free bus to town and beach we used every day . We had to Have our room upgraded as tiny shower couldn’t open wardrobe and rain came in so avoid A12 . The cup system for drinks was a bit of a pain and the food was ok breakfast being the best . A guest has now arrived who is loud swearing and a nightmare glad we are not spending anytime with her as she is there for next 11 days

Just finished a week stay for our first holiday with toddler,and cannot fault this place. I was a bit nervous after reading reviews, but we have had a fantastic stay without fault. To address a few issues I have seen in previous reviews-the buffet room in basement is bright and decor is nice. The pine furniture seen in photos is the bar upstairs. Air con on full blast but food was always piping hot. We are seriously impressed with the quality,selection, and presentation of food,especially considering the prices paid here. I don't know how they make a profit as the food is of very high quality and different choices every day and at every meal. The only place I've been abroad that has decent sausages! We would be fussy enough eaters but never had the same thing twice. The staff are very attentive and manager seen always checking food is OK and replenished. I'm not sure if the hotel made changes due to reviews,or if people just have 5* expectations in a 3* place. I have paid more for places with worse food. They also have amazing selection for kids. Chicken wings and rice were my favourite! The rooms are not as dated as I expected (room 208) and plenty of storage,clean,comfy beds. Nice balcony too. Shower is important to me and it was very powerful and always had hot water. Only issue was while it looked clean,I could feel a layer of grime on the bath before I was putting toddler in. Cleaners are in every day replacing everything and making beds,but was a nightmare for us because always at toddler nap time around 1pm. The pools are great,big one is quite deep and busy but we were mainly in kids pool anyway. Lifeguard is proactive and staff blow a whistle and walk around inviting kids to play different games every day. We didn't have any issues with rowdy guests or noise. Found everyone very friendly and well behaved. People saying entertainment is crap and just a disco obviously didnt look at timetable-theres dance lessons,make up tutorials, bingo,disco,and more. The baby pool in photos has been filled in,and is now sunbed space, but it's not needed as kids pool with slides is plenty. We always got a sunbed and umbrella no matter what time we came down at too. It is true that staff levels of English aren't great,but there is normally 1 staff member around that will translate. The ice creams advertised are cool pop/Mr freeze style,which are perfect to cool down for kids and adults! The souvenir shop in site only takes cash and atm in shopping centre next door to hotel doesn't seem to work with irish visa debit or revolut. Carrefour supermarket next door is brilliant for anything you need. Wifi isnt great,slow and comes and goes. The hotel shuttle is a minibus that has buggy space,not the train seen in photos,and is a but ad hoc when it comes,but it always arrives eventually. Female driver is a bit dangerous. Her driving is a bit erratic and she moved off at speed on one occasion while a woman was in the midst of stepping off with a small child. Think

The hotel was a bit out dated the first night we turned up people were dancing on tables and were drunk. Food was good however as I’m so fussy I didn’t struggle at all we paid for later check out and cleaners kept walking in our room Disturbing us which wasn’t on complained to reception but they didn’t care don’t think I would go back

DISGUSTING DIRTY PLASTIC CUPS THAT THEY WASH AND USE AGAIN ABD AGAIN FOR ALL COLD AND HOT DRINKS RATS RUNNING ROUND POOL EVEN JUMPING ON SUN BEDS COMPLAIN TO HOLIDAY COMPANY THEY DONT WANT TO KNOW EVEN PROVIDED PHOTOS !! CAUSE HOTEL MANAGEMENT GAVE DIFFERENT STORY THEY BELIEVE THE HOTEL !!! VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH LOVE HOLIDAYS AND WILL NEVER BOOK WITH THEM AGAIN !! IF YOU HAD THIS EXPERIENCE PLEASE PUT IT ALL OVER SOCIAL MEDIA LIKE WE ARE GOING TO DO AND PLEASE ANYONE THINKING OF BOOKING THIS HOTEL DONT

Arrived at Hotel after a stressful transfer and initially was pleased with the Hotel frontage and surroundings. After checking in at Reception was presented with 5 drinks tokens for 1 euro per token which we were given a receipt for and told we would be refunded on return of tokens at the end of the stay. Had 2 rooms next to each other and there was 1 double and 2 single beds in each room . After initial inspection found there was no Fridge, tea or coffee facilities and No hairdryer but a TV with no remote control. Went to reception to see if we could hire a hairdryer and remote, was told no hairdryers are supplied would have to purchase from local shop and was given a remote for the TV at no charge, there is a safe in the wardrobe but no lock which yet again found that you had to hire the lock and key for the safe. We checked out the Hotel facilities and bar areas then the restaurant down 2 flights of stairs. The food was good as they do cater for the english very well , breakfast always what we would expect but the food was only warm not hot but a microwave available to use. Yes the food is very repetitive but always a good selection at meal times. Struggled to get used to having to give your token over for a drink but you were never served a drink in the same plastic beaker and if you finished you simply handed the glass back to retrieve a token . Snack bar and poolside bar very good able to get toasties, hotdogs, burgers but the did not do chips or fries as stated but you got a small bag of crisps instead. Shuttle bus very efficient outside Hotel took you to the central part of Santa Susanna or train station if you asked, beware of the road train which stops outside Hotel, we wanted to catch it back to the Hotel with our young grandson which is a short 10 min stroll after asking driver for tickets ( 2 adults 1 small child ) wanted to charge nearly 15 euro for a short 5 minute train ride, explained that we were only wanting to go back to Hotel not a sightseeing trip round the town he was insistent it was 14.80 euros so we refused and walked back , not happy as there are several of these trains and they advertise fares for 3.90 euros per person for the train ride on the side of the train, we spoke to several other families in the Hotel and it was disclosed they all had paid different prices ranging from 2 euros to 6 euros per person so be alert that this can cost you dearly
