Flipflop Surfing Playa

In a peaceful location away from the main Santa Ponsa beach and town centre, yet only a 10 minute stroll away. 5 minutes gets you to a lovely shady peaceful beach. 2 supermarkets shops, takeaway, several restaurants and bars 5 mins walk. Bus stop right outside for palma and magalluf. These apartments are spacious spotlessly clean comfortable and well equipped. Helpful staff service the apartments every 3rd day, ample towels provided. Nice pool nice lounge area and bar. Cannot find any fault the only thing I would say is that the pool bar food menu is a bit limited and hence the bar is a bit under used, it also closed before 10 pm. Not a problem as do much else nearby but be aware if you are arriving late evening. We requested and were given ground floor- 211 perfect

We are currently staying at the Mac Surfing Playa. We are in room 113 a ground floor apartment at the rear of the complex. We complained about the smell of damp and drains in our room and the fact we had insect bites soon after our arrival. We were told this would be dealt with while we went to the pool. We returned to find the smell had gone. We have also complained about the  cleanliness of the  room but nothing has happened as yet.Unfortunately we are still getting insect bites. We then realised there is a small swamp just outside our terrace. Obviously the sorce of the insect problem. Being next to the service entrance and bin store is also probably a factor. We did ask if we could be moved to another  room but this was ignored. 3rd day now and the cleaning hasn't been done. The smell of damp is beginning to return. No change of towels or bedding as yet. We have resorted to fumigating the room when we are out, hopefully this will  help stop the insect bites.

The apartment was very clean, with fresh towels and cleaned every day. The staff were very friendly and helpful and were on hand 24/7. The pool area was small but lots of sun-beds and very clean. There was no real bar or restaurant but a snack bar that did a nice breakfast and snacks throughout the day, very reasonably priced as well. Location was great with lots of restaurants and a few bars and a supermarket only a few minutes walk

Everything was perfect, no complaints what so ever, bedsheets clean and crisp, kitchen area fully stocked with cooker, microwave, fridge cutlery etc , two tv's one in the living room area and one in the bedroom. Had a large veranda with table and chairs, nice to sit have a wee drink and watch the sun go down. Loved my stay and hope to go back

Just returned from these apartments, rooms clean and air con good but only cleaned every 3 days. You get 1 bath and hand towel each and 1 bath mat to last and only one very cheap toilet roll. Walls very thin as you can hear people dragging furniture across the floor and people bumping their luggage up the stairs at all hours. Bar area is very small only 1 lager on draught and they close at 5pm and 3pm on Monday, the food is mediocre and very limited, no atmosphere. Staff friendly enough apart from 1 guy who was rude the whole time. Pool isn't that clean always sand and debris in the bottom. Not suitable for anyone with mobility problems due to lots of uneven steps everywhere. Short walk to shops bars and restaurants by turning left out of apartments. Best restaurant is Rheim and Fat Sam's.

The hotel is very clean, staff welcoming and friendly, rooms are spacious, the hair dryer is strong, so ladies you do Not need to take your own, the shower is walk in and large, we paid for pool view but we also had a sea view, lovely, there are a few drawers in the wardrobe, there is a small ironing board plus an iron, the safe is quite large infact the largest one we have had, the pool is lovely it is not cold so you can get into it without freezing and no Roman steps, we also had to ask reception for a kettle as there wasn't one in the room only a coffee maker. Word of warning on the exterior stairs there are no hand rails so I would not recommend this for anyone with mobility issue, also there are NO lifts in any block I have mobility problems but just managed, the staff did help me hire a mobility scooter as it is also a little on the outskirts of Santa Ponsa

the hotel is really a nice and quiet - the staff i super nice and very helpful. The rooms are great and with alot of space - nice and clean. Theres a bar where you can buy simple snacks - it closes at 17.00. At their website you might get the impression that they have a restaurant - they do not! i would come back for sure!

This is our third stay at this hotel, the first (AND LAST!) since it was taken over. The place is now a total shambles and i would advise anyone not to book here. On arrival we were checked in by an English receptionist, i doubted English was her first language, she said little to us, she was the most rude hotel worker i’ve ever had the misfortune to meet! She also looked like she’d been dragged through a hedge backward! She gave us zero information and checked us in in silence, no hotel info, no breakfast times no pool opening time, nothing. She handed us a room card and told us a block and room number, we had to ask where that was/which direction (did she expect us to just know!?) she told us to the right and down the bottom, so at 1am with a very tired 8yr old we wonder around in the dark with heavy suitcases trying to find our room, after a while we go back to reception only to be told no its to the left! No apology, no ‘here let me take you there’ nothing! So off we trot again! We eventually got to the room, there is enough space and the kitchen is a good size and has all you need, the only negative there is the drains in the bathroom absolutely stink, every time you shower, run a tap or flush the toilet the whole apartment smells like rotten eggs, our bathroom didn’t have a window and i know some do. The pool area however is a health hazard, i didn’t see it cleaned once the whole 10 days (on previous stays we saw the pool man every morning) the what should be white grate around the pool is brown from people walking on it and has black mould in it. There is sand and dirt at the bottom of the pool and while swimming you’ll get a whole array of different coloured hair stuck between your fingers! Delightful! One morning i saw a dead baby bird at the side of the pool, i had to ask twice for it to be removed before a child stepped on it, eventually a man with a black bag picked it up but no one cleaned where it had been! The sunbeds are filthy, we sat in the same place the whole 10 days, there was an ice cream spillage on the umbrella stand (was there before our arrival) which remained the whole holiday, proving the pool area is not cleaned! All pictures I’ve taken of the pool were first thing in the morning proving it’s not cleaned! The picture with the clump of hair next to the pool was taken day 5, when we left at day 10 its was still there. Around 4pm most days (mid week and both sat and sun) the staff turn up with their children to use the pool which is think is wrong, the children were not well behaved often crying and shouting, they totally take over the pool, and will use holiday makers floats etc, i’ve been to hotels where the staff use the facilities on a sunday but not all week! Also as the pool is only small and sun beds limited its not fair in the height of season on the holidaymakers who have paid to be there. Its such a shame as this hotel used to brilliant hence us rebooking. How jet2 advise this hotel now is mind blowing! I’m 10

Good and bad points. Good were apartments are newly refurbished and have good a/c and great showers. No issue getting sunbeds until about lunchtime .Bad - no ice box in fridge or no kettle. WiFi was very poor so had to hot spot my phone while working. Our apartment was on first floor but no light switch on ground level so stairs were in darkness. Biggest problem was the rudeness of the receptionist to us. When we checked in the door lock didn't work so the room was left open. We asked and were told that it's known to be faulty but just to wiggle it and would lock. We tried and tried and no joy so went back only to be told to leave it and she would have a look when she had time. Of course we insisted on immediately so she huffed and puffed the whole way - played around with it and worked then stormed off telling is not to touch anything. We locked the door and it opened again and was still the same so I went back only to be told we must be doing something stupid and she said was too busy to come back and that maintenance would have a look the following day - naturally I insisted that we found a way to lock it so she stormed over - had a fiddle and in not a very nice way said that she told us not to touch anything and not to bother her again. The entire break we had to fix the door ourselves on a daily basis with no sign of a repair man to fix the lock on the apartment.
