Ecohabs Tequendama - Parque Tayrona

The Ecohabs are located in Paradise. Two wonderful (and clean) beaches (one for swimming one for walking) and the beautiful rainforest make it a unique place. You can see all kinds of animals here and truly live inside nature. The rooms/ecohabs are nice, and really relaxing. The only downside is that the due to the remoteness, the service is far from ideal. You need to buy everything from the staff. So ideally bring some water and drinks. The service is mediocare at best. They ran out of bottled water and service me (delicious) chicken when I ordered fish. Prior to check-in it was also possible to get in touch with the hotel and find out how to get there. No one speaks English. But the massages are really amazing (and affordable). So all in all it is a great place. You just need to adapt to the surroundings and then enjoy it :)

Beautiful, clean, so friendly! We arranged a car service through the hotel and they dropped us to right in front of reception - this saved us having to walk in with our bags…. There aren’t any shops and water is $2 a bottle, so if you can bring your own water with you (we would have if we had known the car would drive us the whole way!) then you would save some money. They have a small coffee maker as well if you want to bring coffee, creamer etc. The food at the restaurant is delicious. We are at the very top of a hill so do have a lot of stairs…one of the staff carried my large suitcase up the hill thankfully :)

I found lodging prices excessive for what the rustic cabins offer: 1. Long “hike” to arrive from the front desk to the actual cabin. 2. Furniture is affected by termites and it is getting pretty deteriorated. 3. By the price paid, I would expect air conditioning or, at least, a stronger and more effective ventilation system. 4. Amenities in the room should include free drinking water, repellent fluid, electric repellent for bugs in the room. 5. The only friendly staff were the bell boys and the ladies from the restaurant (not the front desk staff or the housekeeping staff), although by the high stake of the property I would have expected them to be more professional, responsive and trained in customer service. This is critical considering the amount of foreigners staying at the property. 6. No dietary alternatives are available in the restaurant, so beware gluten/lactose intolerant people or diabetics! 7. Internet and phone signal are poor to non/existent but I don’t even consider that as a problem since the whole idea of the experience is to disconnect from technology. I would not recommend this place to stay and definitely would not stay again.

The location is unbeatable, giving you the ability to get out on the trails before others who are staying outside the park. But it's as if the staff at the hotel know this, and know they don't need to try very hard to attract customers. We felt several times like we were an annoyance to the people working at the front desk, especially during check-in where 3 or 4 couples just sat there (for 20-30 minutes) while 2-4 employees just continued on with their tasks, as seemingly just 1 person was equipped to take people to their rooms. Having the bathroom downstairs in the units is impractical, as it requires having clothes and shoes on to use the restroom, since the lower level is completely open to anyone walking by. The rooms (or, should I say, at least our room) was very hot, as the air movement was surprisingly little. Nevertheless, if I returned, I'd probably still go back, just because of the location.

We stayed 2 nights in Ecohab Tayrona with family (from 1 year old to 70 year old). The location is obviously amazing, the views on the beaches are beautiful and the original construction might have been thought of as eco-friendly BUT The water in the area is not drinkable and they make serious benefits from it, probably strongly supported by a big beverage company, selling individual 600 ml plastic water bottles ONLY! Is this a joke? In a hot tropical area where we spend our time sweating! Going around the cabana I was also surprised at the waste water management 🤯 Overall, besides the views that you can also get just from hiking in the park, I really think it is not worth the money we paid for.

Beautiful location. I enjoyed much the ecohab, the beach and the park. The restaurant though was expensive and the service lacking. I would have like fast food options
