Sol Dunas

Guy who took us in and helped with bags name Jose Level was wonderful his custom service was uniqiue. He got us feeling like vip guests. We are so grateful for him service for first meeting to last and want to thank him bottom of our hearts. This guy was kindest and had best service in whole kap verde. And also restaurant rancho and the manager gildo was unbelieveble. Theyr food was awesome and gildos customer service was in next level. We are blessed to meet these two guy who cares more than anyone about clients and client service.

De foto's op jullie website over de kamers komen niet overeen met de kamer die je krijgt. Wij sliepen in een heel smal bed en niet het grote bed zoals op de foto. Minibar niet inbegrepen....is dit dan een 5 sterren hotel... All inclusive word gezegd maar slechts bepaalde dranken. Meermaals lagen er geen verse handdoeken klaar in de badkamers. Wel een dikke pluim voor Janice aan de receptie, zij doet haar uiterste best om steeds tot een oplossing te komen en is zeer sympathiek. Veel te druk, keuken kan niet mee, waarschijnlijk ook door de beperkte openingsuren van het buffet.

Really friendly staff & fun a**osphere. Loved the food so much choose. The buffet was great. The beach is a short walk & so clean.

The family room was our little haven. Seriously, it was like this magical space where the kids didn't step on each other's toes, and it got cleaned up every day. Shoutout to the cleaning crew – they're basically wizards. The staff there? Legends. They weren't just doing their job; they were like your cool neighbors who always lend a hand, even if it involves a bit of sleight of hand. Checking in was like meeting long-lost pals. And the setup – four pools, a beach, and a show every night. No chance of boredom creeping in. The pools were a hit with the kiddos, and the nightly gigs were the perfect wrap-up to our days. Plus, everything was so easy to get to – no marathon walks with tired little legs. Feeling adventurous, we decided to explore the island, rented a car, and the staff made it feel like borrowing a friend's car – easy peasy. Locals were as friendly as it gets, with tips and smiles aplenty. "No Stress" isn't just a phrase; it's like a way of life here. Yeah, it was a tad windy, but guess what? Perfect for some impromptu kite surfing action. Sol Dunas didn't just think of everything; it was like they read our minds. Bottom line – Sol Dunas is the spot for families wanting both downtime and a bit of thrill. We're leaving with a ton of memories, and the only stress now is figuring out when we can come back. Solid five stars!

Gorgeous room with a comfy bed and also a sofa bed cleaners do an excellent job Bottled water is provided 1 per person per day if you want additional bottles of water you need to pay €1 per Bottle or you can get endless glasses of water from a huge bottle I brought my flask cup and the bar staff were more than happy to fill it for me Food I will never understand why people are always so fast to complain about food the buffet offerings were excellent from endless delicious fish to lamb shanks tasty veg options and lovely kid’s offerings if your food is not hot enough for Your own personal taste there is even a microwave that you can use The animation team is excellent I have to say the lion king production exceeded my expectations most days I joined in with aqua aerobics and Zumba which was greet fun no pressure to take part but obvious appreciation when you did Cape Verde is an amazing place but always remember nothing grows here or is produced here so prices are elevated for most items Excursions are not cheap and other than the snorkelling and boat tours they can be a bit of an anticlimax My best advice is follow the local saying of No Stress This hotel is huge and to be honest a bit Too big for my personal taste I don’t think that their upgrade of €50 ppd is worth the money for example For myself and my hubby this would have cost and additional €1100 plus taxes

Informed of closed kids club 2 weeks prior, totally unacceptable as it was the main reason for the booking travelling alone with a 6 year old. This is totally unacceptable 2 weeks out. I booked here and paid the extra to have a hotel with this facility specially for a kids club, I wasn’t even booking this country I feel completely let down.

Complete chill out hotel. Room was spacious and clean, short walk away from beach. This resort is huge, you can get about by buggy but we needed to walk off all the food! Main restaurant just average, food hit and miss. Food better in the Riu's but the drinks were fine although did not like the plastic cups, sometimes looked tired and dirty. You could book the restaurants in the other Melia resort, you had to queue for an hour to do this. They should make booking accessible on an app like Riu has. You can also upgrade think it was 50 euros a day but we didn't feel the need to do this. Loads of sunbeds on the beach it was bliss down there very peaceful, there's a part where you can actually access the sea if the waves aren't up. You can go out into Santa Maria we went day and night taxi 5 euros which was a good change lots of bars/restaurants and great little irish bar showing sport etc. This place is fly and flop and great winter destination. There's more going on in Sal than Boa Vista in our opinion. Would return to either island we love Cape Verde the weather is amazing and the people are lovely. Thanks for a lovely stay.

We have just come back from a week's stay here and in summary we had a fantastic time. We stayed in a two bed family apar**ent which was very spacious. This was right by the amphitheatre which was great to get a tired 5 year old home at the end of the night. I am reviewing this based on a time when they are sharing facilities with the melia dunas. Pools were fantastic and staff were great. My daughter used the kids club once and loved it. She also loved the mini disco on every night which I would say is aimed at kids 7/8 and younger. This is on at 7.30 for 30 - 45 minutes and then there is a gap until 9pm for the evening shows. We would have liked the shows to be on a little earlier. Shows are only on 4/5 nights which wasa shame but the shows were really good and the entertainment gave 100%. Buffet was perfectly acceptable. Lots of choice. We liked to eat lunch at aqua and the bbq buffet by the beach - I would recommend both. Drinks were good even the local spirits. There us building work at the minute but it is out the way. It was our view for the week but it didn't bother us as we liked where we were situated and to be fair the hotel did offer us two connecting rooms instead nearer reception. Our rooms weren't ready on arrival at 4pm which was a bit annoying and the aircon didn't work but we told reception and it was fixed by the time we went to bed. We did a day tour with one of the guys on the beach - Alex nice tours which we all loved. Passport control on arrival was very slow but fine on departure. We did struggle to get into the a la carte only managed one late booking which we cancelled in the end as timing didn't work for us. Overall is the hotel perfect no but is it good enough for a weeks long break with no stress - definitely.

Spent a week here with my mum and my 4 year old son in the Easter holidays. We booked to stay in the Sol Dunas but think we were staying in the Melia Dunas part. Its impossible to tell where one hotel ends and the other begins, it just feels like one big resort Top tip: soon as you arrive find out how to book your evening a la carte restaurants (when we were here you had to go to Odessy piano bar (inside) from 10.30am). They get booked up quickly. We only dinned in Atlantis and Sahel and both were great Childrens entertainment was excellent. Lollo and Bernie (plus Astrid and the other kids club staff) really made our holiday. My son loved them. The 5.30pm mini disco was a huge hit. I understand this (Lollo and Bernie program of events) has now all finished for the season although the hotel also had kids club facilities. Food and drink. "Spices" is the buffet restaurant and "Mosiac" (they are in the same building) is the part open for snacks outside of main meal times . We enjoyed the food. Ate salads all week and some of the meat. Did feel a bit samey at times but we could always find something to eat. You can also have lunch at Aqua which is pizza and pasta and is table service. So nice to mix it up and go there. The a la carte restaurants for evening meals also help provide variety. Coffee is best ordered at the bars, it doesnt taste nice out of the machine in Spices. We were also happy with the selection of drinks served in the various pool/beach bars Kids splash pool was another big hit and we spent almost all of our time here. There are some building works happening next to it but they do not disturb you Our room was large and clean. The houskeeping staff did a great job. Only issues (we did not raise this with the hotel at the time so they ve had no opportunity to address this and it didnt really bother us that much) the safe was temperamental it would lock but then sometimes wouldnt open! The plug in our bathroom sink was also a bit problematic, it would get stuck. If u were not careful the shower also flooded the bathroom. Had to be very careful to angle it away from the shower screen (that had a gap at the bottom). Overall we loved our holiday here and we are already discussing booking for next year (as long as Lollo and Bernie are there!!!) Biggest bit of feedback to the hotel would be: you need to make it easier to find out some of the information on restaurants, meal times, events, etc. The QR codes didnt really give enough. A sheet in the room or information pack would be helpful Thanks for a great holiday!
