Forte Village Resort - Il Castello

We recently stayed at Forte Village Resort in Sardinia with high expectations, especially given the premium price tag and its strong marketing as a luxury family and kids-focused resort. Unfortunately, our experience was far from what we had hoped. Despite the beautiful setting and some well-maintained facilities, we felt a clear lack of service and practicality for families with young children. The biggest issue was the poor planning around kids’ activities and amenities. The water park — supposedly a highlight for children — closes between 1-3pm, right when kids are eager to play. Similarly, the Kids Club shuts its doors during this same time and again after 6pm, leaving large gaps in the day when there are few engaging options available. Meal options for children were also very limited, and not what you’d expect from a resort catering to families. To make things even more frustrating, activities like go-karting for younger kids only start after 8pm — far too late for most young children who are already getting ready for bed by then. Considering how much money we spent, we were very disappointed by the lack of thoughtful scheduling, the limited service, and the overall value. Forte Village might work for some, but if you’re looking for a truly kid-friendly resort that supports a balanced family holiday, this is not it. We sadly wouldn’t recommend it and won’t be returning.

We so much enjoyed our one week stay at this wonderful gem of a resort. Our apartment like room in Il Castello Gardens - one of the 5* hotels on this large site - had very chic decor and the service from the manager and staff was exemplary. There are many activities during the day, particularly sport, cycling, and excellent spa for relaxation. in the evening, there is entertainment including shows for adults and kids, plus go-karting. The food in the buffet restaurants is of a high quality with a very good variety and the sea at the beach is crystal clear. We definitely want to go back asap!

Our experience at El Castello Hotel was incredibly disappointing — by far the worst hotel we’ve ever stayed in. The service, facilities, and overall quality were all shockingly poor. What went wrong: • Staff were completely untrained, unprofessional, and unable to communicate — not even in basic English. • Constant confusion: they were never sure of their answers and lacked any sense of confidence or organization. • Every time we requested a service or tried to make a booking, there was a problem. • No helpful responses — just vague or incomplete information. • The room was missing many essentials, even a basic iron wasn’t available. • Food quality across all restaurants was terrible and far below standard. • For the high amount we paid, the experience was beyond disappointing. Definitely not worth the money. • This hotel doesn’t even deserve a single star. • Even during checkout, we had pre-arranged airport transportation — but it wasn’t ready. They made us wait despite us having a flight to catch. Completely unacceptable. Bottom line: Do not waste your money or your time. We left feeling frustrated, stressed, and regretful. Stay elsewhere.

Our visit to Forte Village was excellent! We were upgraded to the Castello when we arrived and the room was spacious and clean. The activities were wonderful. The kids loved zooming around on bikes and going bowling and playing in the pools and at the beach. The food was excellent everywhere we went but our favorite dinner was at the forte grill. From the minute we arrived, Valentina took excellent care of us. She went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome. She even got our son a special cake for his birthday! We are excited to come back again in the future!

Outstanding Village with something for all the family. Great sports facilities and the football club is wonderful in catering for all talents and skills. Micheline standard restaurants and the service from ALL staff were outstanding and attentive. A pleasure to be looked after so well.

We chose Il Castello to celebrate a combination of family events, and were so pleased we did. A truly exceptional hotel, and resort, in every way. We were a group of 10 -- 6 adults and 4 children aged from 3 - 10yrs - and we all had the most amazing time. There is something to do for every age. Never a dull moment The hotel (and garden bungalows) were really lovely. Clean, modern, spacious rooms. Restaurants were varied with a great food selection. The main buffet restaurant (Cavalieri) -for breakfast and dinner - was excellent. Great food at every meal, high quality and plenty of choices for all dietary requirements. Good wine selection and not too expensive. We also ate at the Dune snd Brazilian restaurants for dinner, as well as the Pizzeria and Tiki Beach club for lunches. Drinks at the Tiki Beach pre dinner were a must, with fabulous views of the beach and ocean. Clean, safe, white sandy beaches and crystal clear sea. The sports and activities available - for both adults and children - were amazing, our kids just loved every minute they spent in the kids club, various swimming pools and the water park. The only 'downside' to the main resort pool was that the water was freezing! But the Il Castello pool was heated so that was a bonus! Varied entertainment in the evening in the main square, as well as lots of shops for some retail therapy. . ALL of the staff we met, throughout the resort were exemplary - Incredibly professional, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Whilst I could mention many by name, I would like to particularly give extra sspecial thanks to Valentina Dessi (Garden Manager), who is exceptional and really looked after our family. Also, David (reception) and Fillippi (Cavalieri restaurant) - all of whom made our stay even more enjoyable. This hotel truly exceeded my expectations, and I really do hope that we will have an opportunity go back in the future.
