Invisa Hotel Club Cala Blanca

Like most we booked this hotel thinking it was a 4 star and got put in the 3 star part of the hotel. To be honest tho I would rate it as a very good 3 star. Pools Yes they are a bit cold (even the indoor one) but you get used to it. Signs saying no inflatables but not enforced. Lots of pools to choose from and pirate island is amazing for the kids. Even an adults only pool. Food Varied with different themes each night. Italian, Asian, meat lovers, seafood etc. always lots to choose from and always a great selection of salads and deserts. Breakfast also had everything from full English to cereals and fresh fruit and yogurt. Plates were cleared away fast and all staff were very friendly, especially the greeter. Drinks were self serve on coffee soft drinks and alcohol free beer in the restaurant or you could go to the bar for real beer and wine. At the other bars you had plastic cups for round the pool (standard) or glass for seated areas. Having 2 small kids we Diddnt drink much but what we did try was nice. Room We booked an inspire cala Blanca suite with balcony. It was modern looking with 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and a lounge. Big TVs in bedrooms and lounge, mini fridge with water Fanta and coke but wasn’t re stocked. Dolce gusto machine but again pods not re stocked. No iron but had hair dryers. Cleaning wasn’t great, hand prints on the mirrors and glass when we arrived and a hair bobble on the shower door handle that stayed there all week too. We requested a crib for our baby but had to request another when we got there as it was filthy and had holes in it. Entertainment Lots on and varied each day. Bingo, water polo, shooting, archery, sangria and paella making classes etc. very good. The shows at night were exceptional too. We watched Aladdin and lion king and it was just like being at the theatre I honestly can’t rave about these enough! Great for adults and kids. Brilliant outfits, well rehearsed and choreographed truly amazing! Special requests This was a feature when we booked and we put down that it was my birthday and the wife’s 40th while we were there. When we checked in I mentioned about our birthdays too. All completely pointless tho, no upgrade, no bottle of fizz, not even a card or some towel art on the bed. Bad bits When we arrived (2adults 2babies 4 suitcases 3 hand luggage and a double buggy) we were shown to our room, a man helped us with 2 cases over the road but left when it got to the steps. I had to carry everything up 4 flights of narrow stairs to the room while my wife waited with the kids. Multiple trips and to make things worse a bunch of reps and staff were stood at the bottom just watching me struggle and never offered to help. Cleanliness isn’t the best in rooms as I mentioned before. It is a bit hilly but I have a bad knee and managed fine after I recovered from getting all our stuff to the room. The hotel complex has both positives and negatives. This review is of our experience only and as you can read from the other reviews, experiences widely differ. This was our first time abroad with our two year old and four month old. I had spent many weeks leading up to the holiday agonising over the poor reviews so wanted to leave a review of my own. Firstly we booked through a travel agent (an actual person we could message) we knew we would be based in the Cala blanca so there was no 3* 4* issue for us. At check in, the lady Jana was cheery and helpful. At this point, two separate holiday makers were in the process of complaining about the rooms which didn’t bode well for us. All I wanted was a clean, safe base with a travel cot and thankfully that is what we got. We were in the block above reception and at first glance, very basic, decor outdated however by the end of the week my husband and I agreed it was perfect for what we needed. Pool view which was handy due to the location. Facilities at the Casa Blanca were great for families. We used two of the three pools including the water park at the middle level. Loads of sun loungers available and we didn’t have to be up at the crack of dawn to get them. Even though we were always first at the pool due to having a toddler. You get free towels to use and change during your stay but just be mindful when you need them the room to collect them doesn’t open until 10am. Food had good choices for us. We enjoyed breakfast early and watched the sunrise. No queue when we got there at 7.45am each day. Lunch was the same and we ate around half 1/2pm. Dinner times were a bit busier but we got to sit and eat outside apart from one day. The queue to eat from the buffet was a bit bizarre. People queuing to choose but not choosing from that area. It would have worked better people just milling about. Food was fresh and there was always a good selection. Some dishes were hit and miss but that’s at any food establishment. The servers are friendly and work hard. As we visited at the end of the season one of the restaurants was closed which I think was poor choice from management as this would have stopped the complaints from others. We unfortunately had to use the 24hr drs visit but the lady at the desk was super helpful and we were seen quickly. No major illness. Entertainment was good. We didn’t stay out to watch the whole events due to young children but they make an effort. Finally, we also experienced the Yoga group. Without tarring them all with the same brush, I was glad we were leaving the day after they arrived. Some were rude and took up Lots of space they didn’t need. Those mats seem to be attached to them. They were loud on a silent disco. Yes the irony. I thought it was unfair that there was no noise curfew for them but if that had been a group of drunk travellers they would have been reprimanded. We just left this morning after staying Saturday - Saturday. I wanted to give an honest review. When booking through TUI we thought like many others we were staying in a 4 star hotel until I joined a Facebook group for the hotel and found out only Cala verde is 4 star but the majority of TUI guests get put in the 3 star Cala Blanca. I did consider changing hotels but decided to keep our booking and in the hope it’s ok. I did pay £320 extra for sea view room and although you could see the sea from our room you could only see a small part of the sea. But this meant we were closer to the entertainment pool and the restaurant which was beneficial. The whole place is so hilly!! I have rheumatoid arthritis and I struggled. It went as a single mum with my three teen daughters and I was told when I booked they don’t do family rooms to suit a family of 4, this was before I booked sea view, I was told we would have to have two separate rooms. I booked 18 months ago so can’t be because they had sold out!, We were directly next to each other though which was good but I saw lots of family of 4s coming out of rooms altogether….. With having to have two rooms I had to pay tourist tax for two rooms which was €60! As a single parent this was quite expensive for me. We have been to Majorca and Spain and paid a fraction of this. The food was ok. Two of my children have coeliac disease and require a strict gluten free diet. They did offer pasta or pizza or to take us around the buffet saying yes or no to whether the food contained gluten. The man on the door of the main restaurant Pier (I think the manager) was so helpful and remembered us and always asked my daughters was they wanted cooking especially for them as soon as we arrived to the restaurant breakfast, lunch and dinner. Like many buffets it did get a bit repetitive towards the end of the week. One of my children was poorly after the first day with sickness, unknown what the cause was, I did try to take her out some plain dry bread as she was in the room all day, but I was stopped by a worker on the way out of the restaurant and was told I wasn’t allowed to take the bread out. I did try to explain it was for my sick daughter but he told me I had to take it back in the restaurant. I did see a sign on our last day that says you need permission from the reception staff in form of a pass to be able to take something out for a sick child but due to maybe a language barrier I wasn’t aware of this and my daughter didn’t eat on that second day. The main pool (entertainment) was fun with games of water polo and aqua dance etc on and off throughout the day. No inflatables were allowed and this was enforced and we saw many people being told to take their inflatables out during our week. Unsure why as it’s fun for a child to have a float in the pool on holiday. There was often horrible looking floaty snotty bits in this pool. We did see them cleaning the pools in the morning but obviously they didn’t do a great j
