Hotel Caravel

What a lovely friendly hotel, from receptionist to waiters to the cleaning lady. I would certainly recommend this hotel, there was nothing to fault absolutely amazing. The breakfast hall was great with a wide range of eateries from cold meats cereals, cakes to cook breakfasts, again nothing too much trouble. The hotel Caravel gets the full five stars from me. A big thank you to the receptionist Marilara who made life easier even before I had started my journey to Sorrento. Thank You.

We stayed middle of August and Sorrento was hot and busy! This hotel located in Sant Agnello was located a short bus ride away and was perfect for our stay. The staff are very friendly. The courtesy bus was invaluable and can be booked the day before. We were half board and always found something we liked on the menu. We also ate lunch at a small restaurant down the road which made fantastic pizza! The local beach is worth a visit, we went early at 9.30 and many sun beds had been reserved and actually some hadn’t even been used when we left at 3.30. Cost €15 per bed and €7 for an umbrella. We stayed in room 410, it didn’t have a balcony but that was fine. It was clean, had a hairdryer, kettle and excellent AC. The pool was busy and we did have problems getting beds a couple of times as people put down towels and didn’t come back for a few hours. It’s not the biggest pool area so you shouldn’t be allowed to reserve your chair if you are not there. The seating are at the front of the hotel isn’t used, we found out why when waiting for the bus, it’s alive with mozzies! Such a shame as there isn’t another outside area in the evening. The sun terraces on the roof were not used much, too hot and no shade. We had a very enjoyable stay and loved Sorrento and will come back in either May or September to explore some more!

We had the most wonderful stay here, we can’t fault this place at all. It’s a boutique type hotel, but plenty of room in the restaurant, bar and around the pool. Our room was small but spotlessly clean, comfy and had the most beautiful view of Naples and Mount Vesuvius from the balcony. Special thanks to the reception staff who went above and beyond when my fiancé fractured her ankle. They organised a taxi for us and called ahead acting as translator. So grateful to them all. The restaurant food was delicious and the staff very welcoming and attentive. The walk to and from Sorrento is about 25-30 mins and not very pleasant but they provide a free courtesy bus available which was a godsend, just remember to book as they are only 8 places on the bus; trips are usually every 30 minutes. I’m sure we will return to the Sorrento area, and when we do I’m sure we will return to Hotel Caravel.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel in Santa Agnello. Our check-in was quick and informative, room was quite basic but very clean and was cleaned on a daily basis. Lovely balcony with views of gardens and pool. Breakfast was plentiful and the freshly made omelettes were fab! We ate twice in the evening as well and the food was of a very high standard. I loved our interaction with Angelo, a real gentleman. Pool area was lovely and again was kept very clean and tidy. It was lovely and refreshing after a days sightseeing or just to chill. We used the shuttle bus many times in and out of Sorrento, it was a god send in the heat! Would definitely return to this lovely hotel 10/10 from us 👌👌👌

Just returned from a lovely week at The Caravel.The staff,the food,the rooms, everything just perfect.The shuttle bus runs every half hour which was a godsend. Thank you all so much,will be recommending to friends and family and would not hesitate in returning in the future

Quiet, clean, good location (within walking distance to bustling Sorrento, but regular bus provided if preferred). Hotel staff friendly and helpful, lovely cleaning lady (we stayed in Room 212, left this morning Sept 10th - after staying for 1 week). Breakfast good - pleasantly surprised as we thought it was continental only, bacon, egg, mushroom, toast etc also available. Pool small, plenty of beds - again clean.

OMG this is probably the best hotel I have stayed in when visiting Italy. The reception was welcoming, professional and informative. The room was spotless with attention to detail with a comfortable bed, spotless towels and continuous air conditioning. The pool area had plenty of sunbeds, a smallish pool but large enough for the amount of guests using it. There was an outdoor seating area for food and drinks and another seating area with comfortable outdoor seating. All areas were kept clean and used crockery and glasses were swiftly removed - the staff worked as a team and they friendly from the gardeners to the waiting staff. There is a free shuttle bus service into Sorrento which was invaluable. You need to book at busy times as although it is a 20 min walk into Sorrento it is very busy with crazy drivers and a taxi charges 25 euros for a 10 min ride. We chose the half board option not expecting the quality and choice of food to be so good. Breakfast was a buffet style / silver service waiting., The choice was exceptional catering for all visitors from many different countries with an egg station where your preference was cooked to order. Lunch was available to order from the bar and was also served either inside or outside. The menu for the evening meals were displayed outside the restaurant every morning and there was a choice of dishes from 3 course with the first course being a buffet self-service option. The food quality, choice and presentation was exceptional and the serving staff were the piece de resistance of our holiday. The restaurant was perfectly run by Angelo and Pepe with the professional and friendly assistance of Antonio, Amer and all the other lovely staff. I would return and recommend, maybe more suited to adults than youngsters but that's fine by us Thank you to all for a wonderful vacation

First of all if you are wanting to book a 4* hotel then this is not for you. this is definitely not a 4* hotel, compared with other jet 2 hotels we have previously stayed at and definitely not compared with normal 4*. I think many of the reviews have been put on by older people, which mainly seemed to be the clientele there. The bedrooms are dated, early 80’s, there are no usb sockets (we are in 2024). We had to unplug the fridge to plug the kettle in and be some kind of contortionist to do this as it was tight down the side of the dressing table. The bathroom was very old with a shower head over the bath which spurted out ant the sides and needs replacing. The shelf over the sink was so low you banged your head when brushing teeth and washing face. Food was edible but especially bland (expected far more from Italy) and dining room lacked atmosphere as was brightly lit like a waiting room. The inside was seriously dated and the outside dining space was a plastic add on with bright lights (could easily just add some wooden slats, festoon lights and mood lighting to change the atmosphere). Can’t order the same wine in the bar as the restaurant as they don’t stock it, but restaurant adjacent to bar! Outside recreation area ok - lacking atmosphere in the evening. Outside snacks were very poor. Good points Taxi service to and from Sorrento was good. Rooms were clean. Hotel was clean. I do believe you get what you pay for and the holiday overall was relatively inexpensive. However, I do feel that this hotel is incorrectly being sold as a four star hotel when it is three star at best.

My wife and I stayed at the Caravel in June and had a wonderful holiday. We have just returned from another stay and found it just as excellent. The hotel is beautifully maintained, the food delicious, the pool area spotless, a brilliant shuttle service into Sorrento and the most amazing staff. I am positive it will be just as good when we return for another holiday in June and August next year. A heartfelt thanks to all at the Caravel and we are eagerly looking forward to meeting again.
