Grand Hotel Cocumella

If you're looking for a warm, luxurious old school hotel with charactar where the staff makes you feel like family then this is the place. It is quiet and definitely not a scene but perfectly positioned to enjoy the sights in Sorrento, Naples / Pompeii and the Amalfi coast. It's rooms are extremely comfortable, the food is amazing, the gardens are beautiful, the pool is huge, the views of the sea are spectacular and they event have a dock / small beach but what REALLY makes this place special are it's staff. They are warm, welcoming and go the extra mile for their guests. I really can't praise them enough. They made our initial stay so good that after a few nights in Ravello we chose to return to the hotel to celebrate my wife's birthday instead of staying somewhere new. We left feeling like we were part of some sort of family and can't wait to visit again. We are fortunate that we have experienced many luxury hotels around the world but only a few stick in our memory. This is one of them.

Very nice place but a four star hotel:…Lovely grounds and spacious junior suite oftset by 1.smoke wafting into main hotel (so move smoking area!) 2.there isnt always a person at the front desk or concierge 3.phone system broken 4.staffing somewhat uneven 5.wacky situation at waterfront results in TSA precheck style different lines on the dock for the hotel chairs ve public beach. I was about to pay to use the dock but figured out at the last minute that i didn’t have to. If they can fix half of theses things, would consider a five star. Hotel should tell staff not to take/have personal phone calls while guests are waiting.

This is such a charming little hotel in Italy. Close enough to Sorrento to spend a day or catch a ferry, but tucked away and kept intimate. Phenomenal breakfast in the mornings and amazing views in the evening. Plus the team behind the scenes was always willing to go the extra mile for my wife & I. The type of hotel you book and hope it lives up to the pictures online, and it most certainly does. 3 nights was not nearly enough!

We stayed here for three nights in late June, as a stage on our road trip from Rome to Sicily. Our agent had booked our accommodation for us and we were absolutely delighted with the Grand Hotel Cocumella! We received a very warm and friendly welcome from the staff on arrival, and were quickly shown to our spacious room, which was very clean and inviting, with a huge, comfortable, bed. The thick walls and solid doors in this lovely building make it easy to get a peaceful night's sleep. The hotel is a villa style property, beautifully located overlooking the stunning Bay of Naples, with views towards the distant city and Mount Vesuvius. It has lovely gardens, containing orange and lemon trees, which lead down to the clifftop above the water, and to the terrace restaurant, Coku. There is a large, well - maintained, and very clean swimming pool in the grounds with a bar area and plenty of shady areas to stay cool surrounding it, or sunny spots for sun-worshippers. Although we didn't use it, there is a tennis court, with equipment available at the desk. The breakfast room is inside the main building and is a lovely bright room, with plenty of space. The food selection at breakfast is really excellent - a mix of buffet-style and made to order dishes if you wish. There are three restaurants at the hotel - our choice was Coku, because of its position overlooking the sea, and also for the great quality fusion menu! We chose to eat at Coku each night of our stay simply because we enjoyed the food so much, and because the staff were unfailingly helpful, friendly, and very efficient. They seemed to know exactly when we were ready for our next course, or if we needed anything, but were not at all intrusive - just what you want. The other highlights of Coku are its beautiful location and truly stunning sunsets! All of the hotel staff we met were incredibly helpful and efficient - most spoke perfect English (far better than our Italian!), and we felt very welcome guests. The service levels are as good as you would hope for - for example, the very useful shuttle into Sorrento centre is available on request. Just ask at the desk and it will take you into town, or come and collect you if you call the hotel. We loved this hotel, and recommend it to anyone visiting the Sorrento area. There is a rail station nearby if you want to take the train to Pompeii, and there are ferries to Capri, Amalfi, and numerous other destinations available at the port.

A lovely hotel in a great location. With fantastic staff. The hotel is well appointed, and the hotel staff is so accommodating. Guiseppe can secure ferry tickets for you. Nicola runs the shuttle bus to and from the depot making it easy to get in and out of town. Michael and David are excelled wait staff, and remember us every night. The pool is nice and quiet. The beach, while small was perfect, and if you didn’t like the beach, there was a dock for sunbathing that also had access to the water. Be sure to bring swim shoes! The included breakfast was fantastic with fresh baked cakes and pastries as well as a selection of meats and cheeses. Nightly turn down service included some nice touches. This hotel is a great home base for daily excursions to the rest of the region. 10/10 would stay here again!

AMAZING hotel - their level of service and attention was INCREDIBLE. They made our trip so memorable and fun and amazing. Seamless experience. Smiles all the time. Can't say enough good things about this hotel. They went above and beyond in all aspects of service.

This is now my favorite hotel. This historic hotel is beautiful and elegant. The landscaping is off the charts and the best part of our stay was the staff. Professional and 100% best in class service. Plus they have a tennis court and prime location. My family and I give Cocumella our strongest recommendation.

Don't be fooled by the beautiful flowers and luscious landscape. it is a waste of money. Over priced and the service does not align with the price tag. The rooms are small. The people who work there are unprofessional and need to be unskilled in etiquette and service. The pool was so dirty that guests were cleaning it. There are other hotels in Sorrento... The Spa was a waste of money. The lady started to massage my young daughter who was six years old and I was telling her that she is a child but due to language barriers she continued to proceed and then charged me full price. I was astonished. I consented to my daughter having a massage as she was 15 years old but didn't feel that my 6 year old daughter needed the service. Be mindful of the appearance of the place as it is a facade. There are other hotels in the area. Avoid the false advertising.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about grand Hotel Cocumella! My husband and I recently took a trip to the Amalfi Coast to get married in Sorrento before honeymooning in Positano. When planning our elopement, we quickly knew Hotel Cocumella was our dream venue as it had incredible views, an unbeatable location, and beautiful property. The manager, Michele, helped us arrange the details of our elopement ceremony. As planning a ceremony abroad can feel daunting, we had many questions and probably called the hotel too often. However, Michele always responded to our inquiries with patience, and he went out of his way during the hotel's busiest season to coordinate the details of our ceremony. He found us a florist, a violinist, and arranged a private dinner for us. Hotel Cocumella's serene and intimate environment provided the perfect space for our big day! Our stay at Hotel Cocumella succeeded our expectations. The gardens, suites, and every piece of the hotel are absolutely breathtaking. The staff is welcoming, intentional, and kind. We were sad our stay wasn't longer, but we'll definitely visit again soon. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Sorrento!
