Borgo Bucciano

Very authentic Tuscan accommodation with stunning surroundings and beautiful pool and grounds. Stayed 4 nights with my sister and spent days exploring the local Tuscan villages and surrounding areas.

This is a stunning location which we enjoyed in both rain and sunshine. The views are incredible from high up on a Tuscan hill especially from the beautiful pool and the whole place gives you the true tuscan experience. The location is so peaceful and beautiful and it is a perfect location with a car to explore the surrounding countryside as well as Florence Pisa Lucca Vinci and the hilltop towns. San Miniato nearby offers a great choice of amazing restaurants. The owner was friendly and emailed great joining instructions for our late night arrival. The apartments are typical rustic Tuscan style and perfectly spacious and comfortable if a little dated in parts. Tea/coffee making facilities would be appreciated but we did get a kettle when we requested it. Overall great value for money and an idyllic venue

The Borgo Bucciano is in a stunning area, high up on the top of a hill that provides a beautiful view in all directions. The narrow windy road up to the villa would not be for everyone, but we enjoyed the drive. We were first housed in an attic apartment, which was spacious but with windows close to the ground, so difficult to see the beautiful views. After two nights there we were moved down a floor to a room with bigger, brighter windows that we were happy with. Some rooms have terraces which are quite expansive. Breakfast is plentiful and we enjoyed homemade cappuccinos each morning. Each room has a small kitchenette so that we could make our own snacks, lunch and simple meals that didn’t require an oven. Only one bath towel was provided for each guest for the entire stay. The pool is beautiful, but unheated, which was disappointing. It was far too cold when we were there to use it (end of September). We loved walking on the trails around the area and driving to nearby villages. We would stay there again.

Borgo Bucciano, high above the the village of San Miniato is absolutely beautiful. a little difficult to find but a wonder when you do get there. The imposing gates that let upon the property never get old and make you feel extremely safe (and a little important) The property itself is very beautiful with rolling hills covered in vines, a large pool surrounded by beautiful gardens and a lovely villa, with a sweet little breakfast room. Ellisia and Sylvia met us when we arrived and showed us to our apartment. Though very high on the third floor with small windows it was very cute and quaint and well appointed. We had a full kitchen with table and chairs and a little sofa, the bedroom was large and comfortable (could use some new bedding) but had a large armoire and sofa to rest on. Full bathroom with shower, sink, toilet and bidet. Lovely accomodations in a beautiful building.

First and foremost you will require a vehicle of some description to get to and from here as it is 1 km. from the Borgo down to the main road....a winding and somewhat steep one track road. So a car, bike or moped is essential. If you want to "disconnect" this would be a great place for you. No radio, no TV, spotty to non-existent internet make this facility a place to "tune out and turn off". A few foibles though. We booked a year in advance and requested twin beds. At that point they advised that the only twin bedded room was an "upgraded" 1-2 bedroom with 2 twins and a sofa in one room and a queen/double in the other at an additional cost-unfortunately that nearly doubled the price. I agreed to that but requested to be put in a reqular twin room if one became available prior to arrival, also requested an update via email twice but apparently one did not become available and again at check in...odd I thought that nothing became available, but Ok they are busy especially with the TravelZoo coupon deal. The other issue with the "upgraded" room is the windows. The windows are very small and the top of the windows are a maximum of 3' (1 meter) from the floor so even if you are on your knees you would still have to bend over to see out of the windows!! There is a kitchen in the room (Iris Room?) we were in, stove top, small fridge and 600 Watt microwave oven. Bathroom is ok, however the shower doors can get in the way if you are using the toilette but the doors can and do move to give you a bit more room. It is a small shower. Breakfast is certainly adequate however very little variation from day to day...that is not a huge issue for us. The pool area is nice several lounge chairs, great views. Pool was not heated, and the "hot-tub" wasn't heated either. For those with mobility issues I would not suggest Borgo Bucciano, no elevator (lift) and stairs to all rooms. The staff are generally very helpful and friendly. As mentioned it is 1 km down to main road and about another 1/2 km to Le Serra village. All in all it was generally good, the setting is nice.

We visited Borgo Bucciano as part of our venue hunt for our wedding reception. Despite it being in the off season (Jan), we were kindly welcomed to view the property by Alberto and his sister. This place is truly a gem - the drive up to the Borgo leads you through winding hills lined with cypress trees eventually revealing a hidden paradise perched atop of a hill offering beautiful views and unmatched serenity. As the name suggests, the property comprises of multiple houses - the main one being a magnificent villa where one can host their party for a reasonable day rental fee. This is accompanied by generous accommodation for numerous guests in the nearby building. This property ticked a lot of boxes for us, particularly the honest and no-sales pitch approach provided by the owners, which was a pleasant departure from what we experienced at many other venues we viewed. Unfortunately, we did not choose this property for our needs due to changes in our plans but would highly recommend. Ps we were recommended a fantastic restaurant by Alberto nearby the property which we absolutely loved. If you consider booking this place, make sure you try the restaurant too!
