We were initially very excited to secure this apartment. The pictures depicted a very beautiful facility. The check in process was cumbersome, as you have to check in at a different facility further down the road. The road is extremely capacity restricted, with very little room for walking with bags. Check in was straight forward. We got our key and began our trek back. No description of the apartment location was provided, and rooms (and keys) are not numbered. So, we had to run around the building a few times trying different doors. Upon initially walking in, you see right away that the apartment is rustic, which we sort of knew going in. The balcony views, and bedroom window views were breathtaking. The mechanics of the apartment are poor and unkept. The latches to the door which leads to the balcony needs immediate lubing, as the spring action isn’t working as designed. The bed room adjacent to the balcony had a poor bed, with poor pillows. The balcony is not kept, and needs to be cleaned, swept, etc. Parts of the balcony appear to be coming apart and in need of repair. This much is evident when looking from the outside. Damage to the pillars appear beyond repair and should be secured. There is no TV and no AC in the bedroom adjacent to the balcony. The main AC unit in the living room area is dripping water in a central area. The shower is not good. It takes several minutes for warm water to arrive and the water pressure is poor. Kitchen utensils were ok, and glassware was good. The biggest issue with this apartment is the poor security inside the facility and outside the area. Apartment doors are light and offer very little security. The locks are abismal. The outside door gate is often left unlocked by others, as it is not an auto locking door and requires manual locking with a key. Stairwells and corridors are often unlighted. On the day after Christmas, at 4:00 a.m., after all the cars had long gone away, gunfire erupted across from our apartment. Our party reserved two apartments, and were both instantly awakened by the sound of a battle. The gunfire was distinct and followed several different tones. Rapid fire, shorter bursts followed by quicker progressions. We took cover on the floor and soon sheltered behind concrete walls in the apartment. At one point, the gun shots were so close, we thought they were making their way through the building. We barricaded the door. Thinking police would come, we did not call. No police came. The next morning, we called the front desk at the other facility and made the report. We received a call back from the clerk that the police had no reports of gunfire and that it was probably fireworks. I followed up with the Hotel Manager, who listened to our claim, but failed to recognize what had happened. She said, “sometimes gunfire can occur very far away, but feel like it is nearby when it truly isn’t. Do you happen to have any proof?” I couldn’t believe my ears. The
