San Ignacio Resort Hotel

During the Christmas holiday, my family and I had a wonderful stay at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel. The level of service we received during our time there was truly exceptional, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Resort grounds and layout The resort grounds were well-maintained and easy to navigate. The pool area was spacious and inviting, and there were plenty of walking trails along the river for us to explore. The front desk and lobby area were also very welcoming, providing a comfortable space for us to relax while waiting for our tours. Rooms and views We stayed in a 2-bedroom suite on the second floor with views overlooking the pool and grounds. One of the highlights of our stay was observing a large iguana lounging in a palm tree near the pool. We also had the pleasure of spotting various birds and even a kinkajou during our time at the resort. The suite itself was spacious and well-appointed, with a smaller bedroom and private bath, as well as a master suite (with private bath) with a sitting area and sofa bed. The large balcony area with lounge chairs and an outdoor jacuzzi tub was a perfect spot for unwinding after a day of exploring. Restaurant The Running W restaurant at the resort offered a diverse menu and excellent service. We enjoyed dining both indoors and outdoors, and the staff were always attentive and accommodating. Tours We took advantage of the tours offered by the hotel, including the Tikal day trip, cave tubing, Xunantunich half-day tour, and the onsite Green Iguana tour. Our tour guides and drivers were all knowledgeable and provided top-notch service, ensuring that we had a memorable and informative experience at each destination. Weather Despite a few cloudy and rainy moments, the weather did not dampen our spirits or hinder our activities during our stay. Butler Our butler, whose name was Elito, was a standout member of the hotel staff. He was always attentive and went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. His exceptional service, especially in accommodating our dietary preferences, made our stay even more enjoyable. Tour Guides Our tour guide for the Tikal tour was ok and shared the relevant information about Mayans and the Tikal site but didn't really wow us. Carlitos was our tour guide for the cave tubing and Xunantunich tours and he was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He shared a lot of information about the sites we were visiting and was very friendly. I highly recommend him. Service This resort stands out for its exceptional service provided by all team members. The front desk staff consistently displayed friendliness and attentiveness. The drivers (Ramiro, Santos, Brainerd) and restaurant staff were also efficient, personable, and helpful. Truly top notch service all around! Conclusion Overall, our experience at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel was fantastic. I would not hesitate to recommend this resort to fellow travelers

We loved the hotel location and the staff was so friendly. The food was very good and the birding from the dinning deck is spectacular given the fruit trees the grow in perfect view. The rooms were also very comfortable. I also found the waiters and staff to be knowledgeable with things to do in the area as well as names of the birds. I would definitely go back and stay at this hotel again!!!

While many hotels also offer exceptional service, what elevates San Ignacio Resort Hotel over the rest is its location, one side facing downtown and the opposite the jungle. The onsite restaurant offers a quiet and accessible location with fine dining with great bird and animal watching from your dining table. We ate there many times with different meals each time and the food was always delicious. Don't miss the onsite green iguana tour! While the hotel will book a wide variety of tours for you (and you should definitely check those out), we booked most tours from another company because of expanded offerings, so you may want to stroll downtown to talk to other providers to learn all your options before you book. Tours appear to be readily available and we booked each tour only 1 day in advance. And if you are thinking of seeing Tikal, I recommend doing a private tour from Flores, because you can get into the park when it opens at 6AM. And Flores itself is a worthwhile visit anyway.

Beautiful facility with the most accommodating staff. The kitchen and dining room were excellent with the freshest options and local dishes. Recommend highly the Birding Tour with Jason. Jason was outstanding, definitely worth getting up early for. Jason was able to identify individual birds in a forest full of birds before the “Merlin App” could register even one song. Kayaking, exploring caves and hiking was so much fun with all ages joining in, 70 years young to 14 years old had a great time. The tour guides were so knowledgeable it was like hiking with your favorite professor. We will definitely be back. A week is not long enough to enjoy all the area has to offer.

We visited this resort for 3 nights, 4 days and we had an excellent experience from the very beginning. Every employee we interacted with was kind and helpful with whatever we needed. The concierge helped us find things to do in the area, helped us set up our trip to Tikal in Guatemala, and even had a list of things to see and do for the next part of our trip in San Pedro! Every meal we had at the resort was also excellent. You can tell they have taken the time to make every part of the experience enjoyable! The view from our room (riverview) was perfect and felt very private!

The staff at the San Ignacio Hotel was super nice, super helpful, and super friendly (especially Carmencita). The hotel arranged pickup from and return to the Belize airport. is very nice, on the side of a hill overlooking green space. A pair of toucans visited every morning. The room was nice and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The concierge arranged tours to ATM Cave and Xunantunich led by knowledgeable guides (Ranan and Cruz, respectively). Highly recommended.
