HI San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf Hostel

Great stay on top of a hill! Fort Mason park is just down the hill with some great views of the city! There’s a Safeway about 8 mins down the hill with everything you might need. I loved the Equator coffee that was nearby! Overall, the bunk bed was comfy and the hostel provided a towel, sheets, and the staff were awesome! If I ever needed to stay near this area again would definitely choose this place for the amenities/location. Also fisherman’s wharf is an easy 15-20 mins walk downhill. They have places to charge devices in the lobby and also near the cafe Franco area there’s a whole desk area set up for multiple people!

It was my first time staying in a hostel and can honestly say, that this was such a fab experience. The hostel was clean, perfectly located and the staff were friendly. There’s a small complimentary breakfast buffet which is perfect as a brief snack before heading out. Nothing was a hassle and I was allowed to keep my bags there all day after I’d checked out. Thanks for a great experience!

This hostel is quite recommended in terms of location, price, and hospitality for those who are accustomed to the hostels' accommodation style. The location is one of the greatest traits, where it is central, coastal, and in the middle between the Golden Gate and the piers. It is very close to most of the top attractions. The cleanliness level was appropriate, the lounge was spacious and nice, the breakfast was nice and adequate, and the receptionists were professional in welcome and the advice.

The location is fabulous. A stunning view of the bay and golden gate bridge. A short walk along the bay front to Fishermans wharf, it took us around 15 minutes. We had a family room and it was fabulous, we had our own room and a shared kitchen with another dorm. It had everything we needed apart from a toaster. The staff here seem to either have very busy night lives or are just very miserable in their job. Apart from the two girls that checked us in on Wed 3rd Jan at 9pm everyone else was miserable. The guy on the Thursday morning shift couldn't even be bothered lifting his head off the front counter when we asked him a question. The management might also want to organise a staff room as staff members would come into our common space during the day and proceed to lie on the couch and promptly go to sleep. It was a very weird vibe. It also meant we were creeping around as someone was sleeping in our living space.

Location was great but facilities in room were not on par. Awful bed, pillow , bathrooms. Friendly staff but other people staying not so. It has weird vibes and we didn’t feel comfortable. Shane cause we stayed based on glowing reviews here.

I booked this place for myself and a friend for 3 nights at the start of our west coast trip. Another friend had stayed here a few months prior and recommended it. It was good value for money and we received a really warm and helpful welcome from the guy on reception. We booked the family room, which had a triple bunk. The location is excellent! Right on the water and we had a view of the Golden Gate Bridge from our room, making for some excellent sunset views. The beds were so comfortable with wonderful soft duvet and pillows. The toilets were just across the corridor, meaning we didn't have to trek far at all. The showers were nice and warm. There is a big supermarket a short walk away but the hostel does also offer a selection of snacks and drinks you can purchase (although some vegetarian sandwiches would have been great!). Breakfast is included in a shared dining hall. It's basic but sufficient (hot drinks, toast, fruit, cereal). The thing I loved about this place is the variety of people and they are clear that they are a fully inclusive hostel (very disabled friendly) and won't stand for any discrimination. Whilst we didn't utilise it, they offer a variety of day trips. There are a few communal places places you can sit, they have a 'cinema' and a pool table. They also had a place you could refill your water bottle. I'd definitely stay here again.
