Don Gregory by Dunas - Adults Only

Overall a great experience at this hotel! Brilliant location with a huge sandy beach right in front of the hotel. Lots of waves for bodyboarding which was great fun. Staff at the hotel are really lovely, always smiling and greeting guests. Worth upgrading to all inclusive in my opinion. Food was better some days than others but generally plenty of choice. Only gripe about the restaurant is charging 1€90 for filtered tap water which was warm - maybe the hotel could purchase a couple more drinks fridges to ensure water is cold for guests - or offer ice with drinks. No problem getting sun loungers when we were there. The spa is small but it was nice to spend an hour there and you get a visit included with all inclusive and premium rooms (on the upper floors). First visit with my grown up children to an adults only hotel and I loved the peace!

We travelled as a party of 11 for a hen party. We all had such an amazing time. The staff have been absolutely superb and the hotel is lucky to have them all. Bar area is table service and you’re never waiting long. The food at the bar is next level for all inclusive. Usually it’s terrible burger and chips etc but this place serve salmon, rice and asparagus, steak and fries, pizzas, amazing buttered prawns, nachos with guac etc. It was just so lovely. Cocktails are also fantastic. The manager got us a dinner table each evening all together and out of the way a little, we were quite loud so this was appreciated. The evening entertainment needed a little more energy or something different But being out of season-ish it was good. Andrew really pushed the boat out on the night we went on our hen celebration and the hen had the best evening. Hotel is on the beach and loungers are €4.50 you can take drinks down and there is a shower on the beach. Towels are free and you can swap them as you need. Main food is lovely too, always a couple of show stations. Duck rolls, tacos, steak, fresh ham on the bone. Salads are fresh. You can’t save sunbeds so have always been able to sit down. Would definitely go back as a group. 10/10

Nothing special about this hotel. Poorly done renovations. The hotel tries to be fresh and newly renovated but you cab see from the rooms that it is done cheaply. It rained one day and water was coming in from everywhere. Don’t opt for the premium room. It’s not worth it. We had the premium ocean view room and we were supposed to have one spa access. But when we tried to visit the spa, they said that it does not include to our room since the minimum nights you need to stay for that is 7 nights (we were 4 nights). This does not read anywhere when you book the room (see picture) and we showed it to the receptionist who just said there is nothing she can do. They dod not try anything to make this okay since it was their mistake. So after all what you get for paying about 50€ more per night for the ”premium room” is some slippers, bath robe and you get to pick your pillow. Premium sun beds were always taken before 10 am. Food was avarage, nothing special. At least the dinner menu changed a little bit every evening but it was not quality food. Just the normal greasy buffet food. Not enough sun beds. All taken before 10 am. The location is good. Straight on the beach. When we checked out the receptionist did not ask how was our stay. In fact he did not say anything.

We had a wonderful holiday here in Gran Canaria. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Particular mention goes to Andrew from the entertainment team - we thoroughly enjoyed the beach yoga and infinity poolside Pilates with Andrew! There’s a great choice of food to suit all tastes and the all inclusive wine is most enjoyable. The evening entertainment is varied and fun.

Fantastic week again at this lovely hotel. Andrew has been fantastic and looked after us really well. Food has been fab, facilities wonderful. Hotel is lovely and clean and we had a lovely week. Rooms were spacious and had lovely views out to sea.

This was a return visit for us to this hotel, so that says something about the place I guess. We chose Bed and Breakfast only so cannot comment on the Dinner element or the 'All Inclusive' aspect. Breakfast was plentiful though it felt like there was less variation in food offered each day over the course of the week than on our previous visit. The hotel location is ideal, on the beach with direct access to it and plenty of local restaurants nearby. Swimming Pools and Sun-beds are clean and the Pool Attendants/Lifeguards were always willing to assist with guests, in particular those with less mobility. Though the walk space between sunbeds seemed a bit tight compared to before, maybe a few more beds have been squeezed in! The hotel is spotlessly clean throughout, with cleaning staff working well into the evening in the public areas. Staff, whether Restaurant, Bar or Room Service were friendly, engaging and helpful throughout our stay ... this wasn't necessarily the case though with the Reception Staff who, whilst professional and responded to all queries, could perhaps show a little more engagement and interest (like all other staff at the hotel). Rooms are clean, bright and spacious. All rooms look out on to the sea, though the lower level rooms appeared to have some restricted views. Our room, as a Premium Room, had a nice touch with a gift of a bottle of Cava in the fridge for us on our arrival, however the fridge was not plugged in, so a warm bottle of Cava wasn't the greatest of gifts. My issue with this is not the warm Cava but that nobody noticed that the fridge was not working. Maybe Staff are too rushed to check/notice that something isn't working? The one particular issue that we would make was the practice of the daytime 'Animation' staff going around guests and getting them to complete Reviews there and then, including occasionally taking the guests phone to complete the review themselves! I don't know whether they are contracted in staff or hotel staff but it places the integrity of these reviews in question. All in all we enjoyed our stay at the Don Gregory by Dunas Hotel and would certainly look to return at some stage.
