I’m afraid this is a sorry tale of very poor customer service, zero empathy and a feeling that I have been ripped off. I booked an apartment last minute for 2 people on 4th March 2022, to arrive on 11th March 2022. I did this by email with the team at CGH Reine des Pres. Importantly, they did not ask if I wanted insurance, little did I know this at the time. On 6th March I tested positive for COVID (an official government PCR test), meaning the trip has had to be cancelled. Absolutely gutted, I got in contact with the team at Reine des Pres, who told me that I needed to contact the booking team. I contacted the booking team in Annecy and they told me to contact the team at the Reine des Pres. The booking team in Annecy told me that they thought that I shouldn’t be refunded as I didn’t buy the insurance. I told them that I wasn’t offered insurance. They told me that this is strange as I should have been and told me that I should contact the team at Reine des Pres who I booked through. When I described that I had paid them €1,104 just 5 days ago for a service that I would no longer receive through no fault of my own, I asked whether this sounded fair. The person I spoke to agreed that this sounded very unfair, but could not help me (despite speaking with her manager). Computer says no. I have re-contacted the team at Reine des Pres, but I’m still waiting for a response. Having paid €1,104 only a few days ago for an apartment I am not going to be able to use in 2 days time, is pretty soul destroying. Couple that with the fact that this could have been avoided if I were offered the insurance option (which I certainly would have taken in the current environment) and it feels that I am being punished for an error that was not made by me. I have all the evidence I need in email correspondence and have raised a payment dispute with my credit card, but the whole experience has not been pleasant. It’s stress that I do not need as I am in bed with COVID, barely able to speak, with a very painful sore throat and a bad cough. I am still hopeful that CGH will do the fair and right thing, but let’s see…
