My partner and I have visited this campsite many times over the last 8 years or so. It has always been a firm favourite: it is in a beautiful setting with lots of shady trees, right next to a little beach, and within walking distance of central Sami. The views across the sea to Ithaca are spectacular. We just bring a small tent and minimal equipment, so we welcome the electricity hook up and communal kitchen. You can rent an individual fridge too. This year, we discovered that the campsite has changed hands. Previously it was run by efficient, friendly staff and was spotless. Sadly, this is no longer the case. The bathrooms are showing signs of serious wear and tear and were not cleaned to a high standard. The worst thing was the overflowing open baskets of used toilet paper. Several tables have been moved from the kitchen to the bar and so these are now insufficient. The shop is closed. I didn't risk the swimming pool because of the negative comments of others, though it looked OK. I really hope that the new management will listen to the feedback and make some changes. Refurbishment of the kitchen and bathroom block is now urgent. Also, a more thorough cleaning regime. This is a gorgeous site so i can't bring myself to rate it as 'Average' but it is so sad to see it going downhill. I hope to return next year and to see improvements.
