Hotel Piramide Salou

We stayed at this hotel in April for a long weekend (4 night stay) as two families. The hotel itself is quite nice and looks 4 star. Bright, modern stylish interiors and exteriors. The rooms are a little basic but clean and the beds are very comfortable. However, facilities, customer service and amenities are 2 star at best. Anything that required any sort of customer service was at best a failure, at worst obstructive. The reception was undermanned and you always had to queue for a while to be able to speak to someone. The reception staff were not very helpful, providing minimal and abrupt interaction. We asked for the best means of travelling to Tarragona and were informed of the bus stop and location but no mention made of bus travel cards which could be purchased. This meant that we paid €54 euros for 8 single tickets for a return journey which could have cost €13 had we known earlier (advised later by a friendly local). The breakfast service was bizarre. 40 minute time slots must be booked in advance but you had to turn up at the start of the slot and are evicted at the end. This was not made clear on check in. On the last day we were rushing for the shuttle bus so planned to take a 20 minute quick coffee and pastry breakfast at the end of the service. We arrived at 8.52am for the slot which ended at 9.15am. We were barred from entering by the waitress. The aggressive manager informed us that we were too late because we only had 15 minutes to eat our breakfast. Despite us saying we only needed 15 minutes to eat she persistently refused saying that no one is allowed to enter post 9am. Again more arbitrary rules not explained on check in. Once we pointed out it was not yet 9am she begrudgingly allowed us in. The lady setting the tables scowled at us and refused to set our table so we had to help ourselves to cutlery. The breakfast buffet was decent quality with a good choice available. The air conditioning in the rooms was turned off. Reception explained that in April it is unavailable. The weather was 24 degrees all weekend and the rooms were absolutely stifling. You had to sleep with the sliding door open and even then it was too hot and uncomfortable. The patio door was very heavy and very difficult to open and close. The noise from the street outside reverberated up the walls. On Saturday night we barely slept as you could hear gangs of stag dos and teenagers outside which didn’t stop until the early hours of the morning. The hotel is advertised as having air conditioning so it should have been available throughout the seasons- false advertising. The shuttle bus is a joke. It only runs once an hour. On the first day we mistakenly thought it was every half hour (we misunderstood the reception) and planned to take the 10am bus. We had to wait for the 10.30am. The bus takes 5 minutes to get to the park, however it drives past the park to another Port Aventura sister hotel where the bus driver parked and waited 20 minutes before setting off.

The hotel was ok, probably 3 star really. Rooms are adequate, no mattress protectors in the beds (urgh). The buffet was absolutely awful, the worst I’ve ever experienced. Food was tasteless. Quality appalling. First night guacamole was frozen, the third night it was hot! Staff handling food with bare hands.

Mixed review from a family of 4. Stayed 10 days all inclusive October 2023. We did have a great holiday in Salou, but the hotel could be so much better than it is with better customer service. Spent so much more money than we had planned to. Rating it a 3 and thats being generous. I will start with the positives. Great location, only short walk to everything in the resort. Large pool with plenty of sun beds. Room and balcony are large and comfortable, partially cleaned daily, however floors only cleaned when visibly dirty and top bed covers not changed at all whole stay. We found something to eat everyday. The drinks and cocktails were nice. The hotel is lovely and modern, fresh and bright. Reception was very helpful, poor English but if they didn’t understand they got you to write it down then used a translator to clarify, so language barrier was not an issue. Free Transport to theme parks. Half price theme park tickets. Good free wifi. The staff all work extremely hard. Restaurant staff were very nice and welcoming, especially Mar and Jorgie. Negatives Very poor customer service, the positives are overshadowed by the lack of it. We thought we had 3 day theme park tickets included with our booking but had to pay for tickets, they were half price so not a huge issue, just annoying. Sleeping arrangements - 2 doubles for family of 4? Husband and I had to share a bed with each child, boy and girl aged 12 and 9. Not allowed to share a bedroom in UK after age 10 never mind a bed. Not that they would without a fight anyway. Balcony only had a table and 2 chairs for 4 people? Bathroom dated and had the the only mirror in the room. 1 pillow per person, fine for kids but for adults had to double them over. Pool deep and freezing cold, not allowed a rubber ring for non swimmers. Do not understand this rule at all. Even when we are the only people at the pool and supervising our own children. Poorly advertised entertainment. Noticed a A4 sized schedule in reception when we were checking out but didn’t see anyone actually doing the activities in the full 10 days, no one coming to ask people to participate. We only went to the evening entertainment once and the kids were not impressed at all with baby shark for half an hour or the Spanish band. Bar in theatre but not open. One bar with one person working to service the full hotel, make coffees and snacks, spent half our time queuing at the bar and didn’t ask for snacks often as there was always a queue behind us and felt guilty asking for things that took time to make. Big glasses given to some people and when I asked for big glasses was told no. Always running out of things. No hot chocolate, no icecream cones on occasions, no snacks at all the full day on Saturday 21st. Expect self service hot drinks, beer, wine and soft drinks in a 4 star hotel. Have not had the most enjoyable stay here, definitely wouldn’t rate it a 4* as is plastered all over the hotel. Check in was easy and quick with a helpful receptionist, however when we returned to reception to double check something we were met with an extremely rude young lady who behaved like we were an inconvenience. The room and balcony are both spacious, however for a hotel which was allegedly refurbished recently, the bathroom has several areas of mouldy sealant, the plug didn’t work and the decor in the rooms is dated. Beds are very uncomfortable with only one small flat pillow per person. There is no mirror in the room, only the bathroom which could be inconvenient for couples/families getting ready. No bin in bathroom. Quite a few plug sockets which is a bonus as some previous hotels we have stayed in have only had one. If you like a peaceful nights sleep look elsewhere, bins being emptied outside about 11pm, staff dragging chairs about the pool bar until around 12.45am and keeping us awake every night then housekeeping shouting and banging at 8am. Not a good recipe for a peaceful holiday! Staff in reception speak English well, however in the restaurant and the snack bar most staff members have poor English resulting in wrong drinks orders being given, when asked politely to correct one staff member at the snack bar got visibly annoyed. Only one member of staff at pool/snack bar meaning long waits to be served. The food offered in the restaurant is appalling. We visited for lunch most days and the only meats on offer were burgers or hotdogs with the occasional fish thrown in. The choice was so limited on the first night that we ate out for dinner every night despite being all inclusive. We spotted the ‘chef’ opening the fridge and pulling out raw fish with her bare hands and then proceeding to touch all the utensils for cooking the other dishes without washing them. Basic hygiene! Would not recommend this hotel at all and will be finding somewhere else when we return to Salou.

This hotel was pretty much what I expect. The hotel is modern and bright, interior of the hotel is nice & comfortable. It’s a relatively small hotel, with basic facilities and amenities. It’s not a 5 star luxury resort. Rooms are fine, although bathrooms should be updated to fall in line with the rest of the hotel. Sound proofing in rooms is not great and if above the dining balcony then you will hear people till nearer 12am. Which wasn’t good for my family with a toddler. Food is fine, not the best variety but food all tasted good. Although the time slots are a pain especially with young families, it is nice having that personal touch of someone welcoming you into the restaurant and highlighting your server to you. I can’t comment on drinks as we did not purchase anything in the hotel. Pool small and cold (time of year probably didn’t help). Lifeguards around the pool always happy with my child and made us feel welcome. Due to the positioning of the pool and the hotel, the pool was often in the shade. Evening entertainment I thought was too late for families with younger kids, so we never attended. However I did not like how loud the entertainment was when entering the hotel through reception. We had times we could no go back to the hotel till the music had stopped due to how loud it was. My child was often sleeping in her pram and we therefore couldn’t enter the building as it was deafening the music. My child would have woke up in a panic. I believe this is something that should be looked at as your hotel should always feel comfortable and relaxed in areas such as reception and passage ways to rooms. Great that the hotel does the deal with the park tickets. I can also say we never had any issues with staff speaking English. If someone didn’t speak English they would find someone who did. But let’s be honest it’s not hard to use a translator app to help with the language barrier. Overall this hotel was fine as we weren’t expecting anything more than a decent hotel to sleep and a splash in the pool. I would say it more than done the job. But if you are a family or single person who wants to spend hotel of time in the hotel or take up the AL then this hotel may not be for you.

First when we got to the hotel it was pretty chill. Then, one we walked into the room it was great. Food was OK. And the rest was good. Shows on at night. Kid’s club are great and I probably give it a 7.4/10

My son and I just this afternoon, have returned from the most amazing seven nights day at the pyramide salou, Everything was completely smooth from the easy, checkin with the super friendly and lovely Lucia. Our room was on the sixth floor spotlessly clean a lot nicer than I expected it after reading some of the negative reviews on here . We had an issue with the air-conditioning, which was more my thought that anything was resolved in I would say less than three minutes with an engineer coming up to our room, sorting the problem instantly . I am a little bit fussy, so the breakfast wasn’t always to my taste. I wasn’t a fan of the super smoky bacon, but there was tons and tons of choice. The dinners were great and lots and lots of variety, along with the classics as chips every night. The Paul was a little bit cold, but my son enjoyed it nonetheless . Don’t be put off by the reviews, we had the most fantastic time here, and we’re definitely return in a heartbeat. 👍🏼👍🏼💙☀️

We had the best holiday here that I’ve already re booked for next year, Hotel was so amazing so clean staff so friendly food was lovely lots to choose from also drinks were lovely. 5 mins to the beach and the shops, free transport to the theme parks what more could you ask for can’t wait to return next year thank you.

Just checked out from a 7 night stay at the hotel. Positives -Location -Rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels provided -Staff really friendly and accommodating -Portaventura tickets included with stay Negatives -Food selection particularly at lunch -Entertainment - kids disco starting at 9:30 is late all other hotels I've stayed in it would start at 8:30. The mini club is only open for a few hours on Friday and again Saturday. I don't see why it can't be opened all week as it's not a mini club that the kids are signed in and out off. There was practically no entertainment during the day the odd time you'd see a couple of balloons being made. No water games or other sports you would normally get. -Booking breakfast and dinner I don't see what the point of booking is as it's a buffet. Creating a booking system makes everyone land at the same time and therefore queues are formed to get your food. This is then cold by the time you get round -Bar service there is only 1 bar serving the whole hotel. This bar is staffed by 1 person again the queues for this was ridiculous. I queued on one occasion for 25minutes to get served. This can easily be fixed with putting on extra staff Would not stay in the hotel again due to the limited activities for children and the slow service.
