La Mandarine

Lovely hotel just far enough away from the bustle of downtown Saint Tropez, but close enough to walk there in 5 minutes.

We paid in excess of 2200 euros in advance to stay at what should have been a beautiful Provençal property. The photos on the website make the place look stunning. The reality was something akin to a bad youth hostel. The floors were urine stained (still wet) in the bathrooms. The bathroom heater had no safety grill - you could touch the elements!. We asked to change rooms as were so unhappy and were marched across a courtyard which was littered in cat faeces up a slope which had no rail and gravel retained by log rolls to be shown a duplex room - supposedly an upgrade - we did not need or want 2 extra beds. Instead of blue painted dirty bathrooms in the original rooms these were orange and equally filthy. On the way to be shown the room the staff member had to move two black sacks of rubbish that had been dumped in the corridor. Checkin was from 4 and there were still breakfast trays littering the hallways attracting flies and creepy crawlies. My husband saw how upset I was - we told staff we would be nipping out and found a beautiful 5 star hotel 2 minutes away. He left me in luxury there and went back to La Manadrine to sort the situation out. Reception manager Camille rudely Told him there would be no refunds at all - she had our money and we won’t get it back. He asked to speak to the manager of the hotel (we were a group of 4 staying in two rooms) the manager and Camille had a conservation in French (we recorded it) and the manager said he would call us to sort the situation out. Later that day Camille emailed us to tell Is there would be no refund. We believe in Turing things into a positive we found another beautiful hotel we enjoyed our time in Saint Tropez there. We are claiming through American Express for a refund of the rooms for false advertising. In short stay away this property is nothing like the pictures and should be condemned

This hotel is so charming. I don't understand the bad reviews. It's chateau and it's beautiful. The service is amazing. The shuttle is fantastic. The room was so charming with a view of the pool. Great breakfast. We will definitely come back.

This hotel is in no way a 5 star. I am a frequent traveler. At best it should get a 3 star hotel. Way over priced. Photos do not represent reality.

Very poor standard. Not 5 star hotel. Rooms are like in a hostel not 5 star!!! Bathroom not acceptable . Entrance to our room was near the kitchen! Cooks was sitting at the stars and smoking and chat . Very uncomfortable when 4 times by the day you must past ..,, never again! 780€ day!

Horrendous, i checked availability and called to say ill be there in 5 mins, arrived 5 mins later and was sold a room for €730, literally 10 seconds after paying I was told the room is no longer available they have a room for €1,050 and made me pay an extra €300. I then asked if they could charge my phone and they told me they can sell me one for €50. The room were absolutely terrible. Filthy, dated and borderline uninhabitable. Just avoid it at all costs its a terrible place you will be dissappointed.

THIS IS NOT A 5* HOTEL, it feels like a 3* AT BEST. Checked in and checked out 2 hours later, hotel manager refused a refund on the day and I have failed to obtain a refund since. This Hotel is very very tired, service poor, rooms were dated, bathroom was awful, food around the pool was inedible, generally staff agreed with us, this place is such a rip off….

The electricity went out around the area of my room for a period of 5 hours and woke up in sweltering heat because the AC is not very strong. The bed i was sleeping in (mattress) was that of a 1-2 star hotel; extremely horrible and uncomfortable. Did not enjoy my stay there at all.
