Le Manoir des Doyens

We have just spent 3 nights at the beautiful Le Manoir des Doyens in Bayeaux. Such  charming manoir in peaceful grounds and a short walk away from the centre of Bayeaux Our host, Christine, welcomed us, advising us on the amenities and told us how to get into the centre. Anytime we needed advice on tourist attractions, parking etc, she was on hand with helpful tips and a great knowledge of the area. Friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Breakfast was good-a selection of croissants, pain au chocolate brioche, cereals and cheese, amongst other items. The rooms were comfortable, light and airy and we were provided with tea, coffee and water. The location of the manoir is excellent - the Normandy beaches are within a short drive of the manor and Mont St Michel is around an hour and a half away. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return one day soon.

The location is very beautiful and Christine is a marvellous hostess. Rooms are exquisitely decorated and breakfast is delicious. Three rooms only, so you really feel home. Do not forget to visit the chapel and maps museum before leaving. You can also book a large room for events.

This property is over 400 years old and has been renovated keeping lots of historical features whilst providing a very comfortable place to stay. Beds provide a great night’s sleep and the host made us very welcome. Breakfast was of high quality with variation each day and the location within a 15 minute walk of Bayeux meant we could could eat out without taking the car.

We stayed in the "new" wing which is ONLY 500 years old. There has been a property on this site for more than 800 years. Christine has incredible attention to detail, and it seems she thinks of everything. The rooms have everything you need, and what a lovely building in a lovely setting! The property, and the other things to see in the two other barns, were all so very interesting. Breakfast was fantastic. Cereals, croisants, yoghurts, bread and cheese. What we especially liked was the individual bowl of fresh fruit, carefully prepared and with different combinations every day, I didn't dare not eat it. Two different jams in individual pots were just enough for two - no jam jar that someone else has opened before you. Walking into Bayeux is an easy 15 minute walk, so we could leave the car at Le Manoir and walk in for a meal and drinks every evening. What a lovely place to be for a few nights - peaceful, authentic and comfortable.
