Highlands Hotel and Bar

Lovely place staff were wonderful. Did not have the breakfast as needed to be away early ,Had a large room ,with en-suite shower and tv,had nice view out of the window , long walk in to the town centre. made to feel welcome. Had a nice bar for evening drinks , smashing barmaid who took time to say hello,

Shocking. This place switched from being ok to what the heck overnight. Booked a last minute 2 nighter and the service was good. Waited for late check in and were pleasant and polite. Sunday breakfast could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Room was comfortable enough for a couple of nights although the decoration needs improving and the tiling/flooring in the bathroom requires finishing. Come Monday morning, NO members of staff, NO breakfast, NO reposnse to telephone calls or messages left. I really regretted having paid the balance on the Sunday! We were not the only people who were (being polite) inconvenienced by the shoddy absence of customer service on checkout day. Another guest had not had her breakfast nor indeed had she paid the balance and rightfully left later. So we have an average hotel that is good for a night or two that says it does breakfast and then fails to deliver. Would I return. Absolutely not. Would I recommend you come? Absolutely not. The final decision for me is whether to charge them for my non- breakfast but I doubt they would respond.

We were stranded as our car was locked in a car park and it was 1130pm.All hotels on the seafront were full and we were desperate so my son located this hotel. We phoned them and they said they could accommodate us. We made our way there by foot and the gentleman behind the bar greeted us enthusiastically. He gave us the keys to our room and we were pleased to find 2 double beds and a single bed all made up with clean linen and towels upon. We found it comfortable and very clean. The staff were there in the morning and were also very nice but we didn’t stay for breakfast as we needed to get home. We would like to thank the staff for there welcome if it wasn’t for them we would have spent a very cold night in a bus shelter.Thankyou.
