Martinhal Sagres Beach Family Resort Hotel

Great hotel, great facilities! The beach and view are beautiful!

If you are looking for the perfect solution for a young family then this is it. Amazing kids club, mini golf, swimming pools (my daughter swam her first length), I windsurfed (amazing spot and equipment), surfed and even squeezed in 18 holes, and my wife raved about how fab the spa was. The staff were all lovely and we had the best holiday. Highly recommend.

We visited Sagres Martinhal in May 2025. Some pros and cons below: Pros: * A largely nice and fun experience for children. Lots of enjoyable activities. Trampolines -- several good ones -- outdoors. Entertainers arriving in the daytime. A really cool little vintage van for kids to pretend to drive. * House facilities were lovely. The sea view was really pretty. House was really well set-up with washing machine and a smart layout for families. * The other guests were sound; good atmosphere. Cons: * The beach. Forget about going swimming. It's not going to happen. Even though it's technically on the beach, the waves are intimidating and the sea/vibe not conducive at all to going in. We didn't see a single swimmer while we were there. Crazy IMHO to go to Portugal and not be able to swim at the beach. * Tipping. You're asked to consider tipping everywhere, even at the Martinhal supermarket if you're buying a bottle of water. It's mad. And way OTT. * Slightly sterile atmosphere. The hotel closed all its restaurants/bars quite early. The place felt more like a creche that adults went to rather than a hotel that had a designated creche/kids' zone. The craic at night was zero. *Sagres. We tried going in there, but we didn't find much. There might be more to it, but we didn't see it. If you're going to go to the Algarve, Lagos or Alvor would be better bets. * Restaurants were okay, but not amazing. Conclusion: For adults, it can feel like you're just signing up to living in a creche for the time you're there. You feel happy that your kid/s had a good time, but you wonder if that's all you can expect from a holiday. Particularly for those prices.

We had a great experience as a family at this hotel. It is very, very family friendly. Especially want to shout out Baljeet Kaur who made our stay extra special. She was very attentive to our daughter as well as our entire group. She was wonderful.

Fantastic Family Stay at Martinhal Sagres Resort! We had an absolutely amazing family holiday at Martinhal Sagres Resort! The location is simply breathtaking, with stunning ocean views from our villa. The resort is incredibly well-equipped for families, especially for those traveling with young children. We opted for the half-board option, and the food was exquisite—the grilled fish was a highlight! Parents can truly relax while the kids enjoy their own menu and have fun with colouring or LEGO activities during meals. Breakfast was also a delight, offering a wide variety of options and a spectacular ocean view to start the day. Even in winter, there’s plenty to do! The indoor heated swimming pool was a lifesaver, and a special shoutout to Thiago for his fantastic toddler swimming class. We also want to thank Pooja, Jay, Nuno, Quincy, and Amrit for their warm welcome at The Dunes Restaurant, as well as Melissa, Joana, and Manuella for making the kids' experience so special. Other kids activities include the trampoline, splash pool, and fun activities. Horse riding was another highlight. Our villa was tastefully decorated and had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The only downside is that the resort is quite far from the airport, and having a car is essential for exploring the area—but honestly, you can’t have it all! Highly recommend Martinhal Sagres Resort for families looking for a luxurious yet kid-friendly getaway!

From start to finish this resort delivered everything and more. We stayed in an Ocean View Villa /Apartment and it was modern, clean and well kept. The staff were exceptional and the level of customer service is high. We loved the My Martinal website - which should be standard for any resort. It allows you to book everything from your phone and you have direct access to their concierge via WhatsApp. It's very convenient. The facilities are superb. We thoroughly enjoyed the padel courts and the mini golf. The gym is small but functional and we also enjoyed the choice of the pools. The SPA is a nice quiet spot if you fancy some me time or enjoy meditation. The beach is also lovely with pods and sun loungers in a plot reserved for hotel guests. The resort is designed for young famalies but our teens still found lots to do from the gym, bike station through to the blue room - which offered a pool table, ping pong to an arcade and PS5. The restaurants and bars were all good but slightly overpriced. However, we still enjoyed the food and the service was great. The staff can't do enough for you. Although there were a lot of young children, there is so much space here that you won't notice it. Even in peak season, when we visited, you'll only notice the main pool is busy. The other pools and facilities were quiet most of the time. Highly recommended for families but especially those with younger children.
