We had booked to stay with this hotel but a family member we spent the whole Christmas in close proximity with contracted Covid on the 27th of December, therefore were both in the incubation period whereby we could test negative but could still be in the process of contracting the illness. Therefore, it wouldn’t have been responsible to travel to Rome and potentially infect people on the flight or hotel. As well as this holiday was booked for new years eve and my birthday (new years day) but from the time of booking there are more restrictions in place in the city such as ALL nightclubs and New Year’s Eve events are all closed, this drastically changes the nature of our trip. On the basis of it being unsafe to travel, we requested a cancellation and reschedule on the 27th of December at our earliest opportunity. The owner did not get back to us until the 28th and then proceeded to take the full amount with no warning from our account before discussing any options. We do not feel this represents good customer service and fair treatment at all. The owner then said she would try and compensate us if she re-sells the room, which of course we have no control or ability to monitor, as well as two free days in Jan, which does not make sense to us as the restrictions are still in place during this month we would not look to rebook until April, when the affects have lessened and restrictions lifted. We have since been ignored by the owner. We have had to pay the full sum for the booking, we were happy to pay a fine or move the holiday but no accommodation was made at all, this is very poor considering the current climate and it would not have been responsible to travel during this period. We contacted *********** who explained they tried to come to an arrangement with the hotel but the hotel refused and took full payment. Be very careful before booking a holiday with this hotel.
