The Beach House Carabao Island

Amazing location, feels like a private beach that you share with the local school kids and fishermen. There’s a small reef you can snorkel or take a day trip round the island on an off roader. Food, staff and facilities are all fantastic, supper helpful and always there to help. There is even a good selection of wine !

Having visited Boracay 30 years ago, we went back with trepidation to see if it still had some of that magic. Sadly it was now too overdeveloped for us and looking for alternatives, we came across Carabao Island. The journey there is a ferry from Caticlan, then a tuk tuk from the port. There are boats direct to Lanas beach 3 times a week and probably worth fitting your trip around as it makes it easier. As soon as we got to the Beach House, we knew we'd found the relaxed Borocay vibe from 30 years ago. We had a warm welcome from the staff and owner David, then moved into our room. The room was well appointed, immaculately clean, with very good aircon and comfy bed. Also had nice little touches like dressing gowns. The location is stunning, looking out onto a white beach, with good snorkeling on the reef 30m off shore. The food is great and reasonably priced as are the drinks. They also have good red wine, which we had only found in 1 other place in our travels in the Philippines! We had a few entertaining evenings chatting with David, the owner, over a glass or two of it! The island is currently in the "hidden gem" status. I don't think it will become over developed any time soon, but get in there before it changes!

Having visited Boracay 24 years ago and loved it, I thought when I finally made it back, I had to find out for myself the ‘secret’ that some of my serious traveling friends have been talking about over recent years. Carabao Island reminds me of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan in the 90’s and Holbox 10 years ago. I’m so glad we came now. Absolute paradise with just the right amount of development and sophistication. Which leads me to ‘The Beach House’! Firstly we’ve just extended our stay. Location, facilities, staff, food and ambience all absolutely superb. Their drinks selection is fantastic, definitely try their house wine selection. It’s so hard to find anything that offers everything The Beach House does, in such an unspoilt and undeveloped paradise location. Half of me doesn’t want to write this as I want it the same when I come again next year. But the owners and staff of this venue truly deserve a massive shout out. Thank you to all of you, especially Hannah and David! See you next year. I can’t wait.

Away from the now maddening crowds and folks wanting you to have a massage, take a trip on a boat, tour the island of Boracay is The Beach House in Carabou.. just a short boat ride from Boracay.. We had a very relaxing 3 night stay at The Beach House with home cooked food and excellent wine selection. It’s a home away from home, the staff were fantastic with nothing too much trouble to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. They arranged a snorkelling and fishing trip for us and also a land tour of the Island. Nothing is too much trouble. Pick up and drop off from Boracay by speedboat was easily arranged too. The Beach House is literally right on the beach, with beautiful sunsets, and so you wake and sleep to the sound of the waves. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place for you! It is away from it all, take a good book.. embrace the occasional blackouts (that don’t last long, if you need it WiFi and AC is available

My opinion is that it is really the best hotel on the island Carabao. It is located just on the beach. It looks like a big villa. The owner of this house is David, who always is very funny and makes a lot of jokes, who can help, recommend or organize your trip around all island. All rooms there are small but nice and comfortable. The personal is very modest, quite and nice. The hotel has a big lawn with an exit to the beach, two small pavilions with tables and chairs, 2 sofa - beds where personal can put a linen, also it has a small bar where you can order some drinks or fruits like an appetize. Of course hotel can provide you breakfast, lunch and dinner but there is one small mines that you have to wait for your meal for one hour and more. The sea is clean and it has a big coral where you can swim with masks and flippers. Also the hotel can give you swimming board or acvashoes for free. I really recommend you this hotel if you want to relax and see all beauties of the Carabao.
