You always feel grateful when you are warmly received.So it was this time. Hungry after a long drive from Norway, it tasted extra good with a dish that showed a local touchI have read about the place, but was surprised that it is so easily accessible in RiksgränsenThe unique transformation of a locomotive shed into a hotel can only be an exciting design experience.It warms the soul that there are entrepreneurs who make such efforts.Hope to welcome me back during the winter season

Being able to go to the high and very quiet valleys near the Kebnekaise massif in late April by helicopter is a true blessing. 8-10 heli lifts +800m a day and then return to the spring sun close to a kilometer down sitting next to the main building outside sipping a cold beer is close to to a religion itself. Upon arrival withe the heli welcoming staff takes care of you. Always in an honest and personal way. Quick shower, then sauna with a view over the Swedish/Norwegian border landscape. Full of old and modern history. And then later in the evening enjoy a seven-course dinner, with local ingredients from a championship kitchen. What beats that experience? Day 3 was cloudy. The helicopters could not take off safely. Then the staff immediately arranged for an option to go on a snowmobile excursion north to a well-equipped cabin 20 km straight even further north right into the wilderness. Really felt that the management and staff of the hotel are something very special when it comes to having an extra eye for what each guest wants in each moment. The building itself is a piece of architectural art, being placed on top of the old engine station. Rooms are beautifully decorated and impeccably clean. But again, the unlimited skiing and the welcoming staff really made the stay. Will go back next winter. For sure. In early April when the snow is cold on high altitude and the sun is shining on the Niekhu terrace in the afternoon.
