Leaving Llanes, the best weather of the trip so far, so took a longer ride into the Picos, via Cangas de Onis, unfortunately coinciding with "brake failure" flashing on the bike... better ride slowly! Ride into Ribadesella cautious, but I've been here before so I know the way. Hotel good, Check In much better since the last time, with excellent staff. I had a room past the swimming pool and overlooking the estuary. It was very clean and nice. Great couple of days, recommended.

Called here to ask if we could have lunch and use their ev charger (maybe the only one in the town!). Not a problem, excellent lunch, including a cycle pass by stage 17 of the Veulta!!!!! The staff were absolutely charming, car charged, payment rejected and an offer to return whenever we needed. We will defo be staying here next time.

A very grand hotel with fabulous location right on the beach promenade. We had a 4th floor room with balcony and sea view – absolutely wonderful to watch the ocean, surfers, fishermen, canoeists and boats and to hear the waves at night time. Plenty of parking but we opted to pay the extra for the private parking in the basement – an added bonus. A full and varied buffet breakfast and we also ate in the restaurant both nights – tasty fish dishes and great sunsets. Unfortunately too cold to use the swimming pool but it looked lovely. All staff very friendly, courteous and helpful despite some translation issues. Would recommend to friends and family.

The hotel has a lot going for it situated alongside an attractive beach and only being a ten minute walk to the lively town and its restaurants and cafes. We had a nice sea-view room which was comfortable enough although the soundproofing wasn't the best. Sadly, the weather wasn't warm enough for the swimming pool to be open, but it is a good size for swimming. The spa was also unavailable due to being refurbished. Apart from the view of the sea, the best feature of the hotel was the superb breakfast. The choice of fresh fruit was amazing as well as there being great bakery produce and choice of cheese, drink, etc.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is right on the beach across the river from the main town. We had a room with a sea view and balcony and it was great just hearing the waves at night. The room albeit a bit old fashioned was nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good with a really good choice of hot and cold food. The swimming pool area is nice and made a nice change from the beach and the pool was a decent size. The hotel does have a spa which unfortunately during our stay was only open sporadically which was disappointing as we didn't get to use it as much as we would have liked - the spa was also in need of a makeover in particular the showers.

Breakfast was incredible the best ever and Inigo the waiter was helpful, charming and kind and even made my coffee on both days as I had to have breakfast on my own and my husband separately as not pet friendly and no outside terrace to take the shihtzu in.

It may have been grand at one point but it is no longer. It looks tired and rundown. In serious need of refurbishment. The bedrooms do not have Aircon and there are not enough sunbeds around the pool. Staff are really nice but the food in the restaurant is disappointing and expensive for the area. The location is reasonably good with a 15 minute walk into the town where most of the restaurants are. It is also a road width away from the beach.

We discovered this hotel on a classic car tour 20 years ago but were disappointed we were only staying one night. We soon rectified that and have been going regularly ever since, our last visit for a couple of weeks with our classic car group in June 2022. The location is the best and the staff very friendly and most attentive. The restaurant is excellent and the food exceptionally good. Choose July to September (as we like to be sure of our rooms in June!!). What's not to like

We have just returned from a 10 day stay in this lovely hotel. We had a junior suite which was extremely spacious with a central lobby (containing a desk, chair and fridge), a large bedroom (overlooking the harbour/ marina and mountains and with a very large and comfortable double bed) and a lounge area (overlooking the sea, with a sofa, armchair and coffee table). The bathroom had a bath with a shower over it, a separate large shower, plus a bidet. With a wrap around balcony as well, we had plenty of places to sit and enjoy the views. We were pleased to find the hotel was kept very clean and hygienic, with responsible precautions in relation to covid. We had very little noise disturbance, other than expected from guests coming and going to the adjacent rooms. On one night there was a wedding reception in the restaurant but this was at the opposite end of the hotel to our room and so it hardly disturbed us. The outside cafe / bar area was below our room and whilst it was usually busy in the evenings, it closed before noise was likely to be a nuisance when we wished to sleep. Whether the hotel is more noisy in the height of the summer season we do not know. Breakfast in the restaurant is a self service buffet with so much choice we had no difficulty in finding something to eat each morning - fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurt, a large selection of cold meats and cheeses, cereals, bread, croissants, cakes and pastries, bacon, sausage, eggs - plus coffee, tea and hot chocolate from machines. The hot drinks were the only slight disappointment since we would have loved to have fresh coffee. The hotel staff are all friendly and helpful and the key staff were able to communicate in English, which was much better than our basic Spanish! This meant that checking in and dealing with any issues was easy. The manager was also very kind and helpful - giving us regular suggestions of places which we might like to visit during our stay. The hotel has quite a large free car park where we were always able to find a space, although it might be more of a problem if the hotel is completely full. There is also an underground car park for which there is a fee. The walk into the town of Ribadesella takes about 10 minutes alongside the marina and then across a bridge over the river Sella - this walk in itself is delightful. The town has a good selection of shops and a large variety of restaurants, cafes and bars - so there is plenty of choice for shopping, eating and drinking - fresh fish and cider are the two specialities of the immediate area. We had no knowledge of Asturia before we made our booking and we were delighted to find that Ribadesella was the perfect centre from which to explore the beautiful coast and the stunning mountains - in addition to the lovely sandy beach right in front of the hotel. We have had a wonderful holiday and we are now looking forward to a return visit.

We were recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint! From the friendly receptionist who was happy to show us a mountain view or sea view rooms (both were very good) we chose the sea view! To the attentive bar staff and very knowledgeable waiting staff in the restaurant all were very friendly. The dinner was delicious overlooking the beautiful beach. The breakfast was plentiful and fresh with excellent choices

Just spent two nights at the Gran Hotel and it was a totally amazing place. Gorgeous views, wonderful staff. Great food. The town is a must see in northern Spain. We were so happy to have found this jewel.

Had an amazing stay at this hotel. Beautiful ocean view room which was super clean and comfortable. The restaurant food was perfect and had a great bar looking out over the bay. The staff were amazing, especially Eva and Nicer who couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Recommend to anyone and will be back soon for sure.

We stayed at the Gran Hotel de Sella in Ribadsella for 4-nights in early June (€141/night), a timely beach break on our road trip through the Pyrenees and northern Spain. Ribadsella is located on a broad bay bracketed by steep, rocky headlands with a river entering at the east end. Most of the hotels are located along the long, crescent-shaped beach & promenade in the new part of town, while almost all of the restaurants & stores are across the bridge in the old fishing village on the other side of the river. The Gran Hotel de Sella, located on the beach near the entrance to the harbour, was a curious hybrid of an old, towering mansion (what you see on the internet page) attached to a newer (1980's?) 6-floor building that housed most of the guest rooms. Our 4th floor double sea view room was large & comfortable, furnished with a king bed & side tables, desk, 2 upholstered chairs, mini-refrigerator, 2 built-in closets with safe, wall-mounted TV. The full-width deck with 2 chairs had views of the bay, a great place for an afternoon drink watching the fishing boats in the channel, the walkers on the promenade and, on one afternoon, the dolphins frolicking in the bay (while the sea view was worth the extra cost, rooms on the other side of the hotel had great views across the river to old town, but probably only on the top 2 floors). The bathroom was modern, all off-white, gray-patterned tiles with a large single sink vanity and a very large shower. The only negative with the room might be noise from other rooms or floors – fortunately, it was not an issue for us because the neighbours were quiet. Breakfast was excellent, a full range of cold-cuts, baked goods, fruit, yogurt, fresh orange juice, a variety of coffees, plus fried eggs, bacon & sausage. The staff were great, universally friendly and helpful with every request. The hotel's grounds included plenty of free parking, a tennis court and a large, beautiful pool (unfortunately, the cloudy weather precluded our use). The location was good, on the promenade, but a reasonable 15 min walk to old town for dinner (or a short drive – there are plenty of places to park along the river). Overall, the hotel delivered excellent value for a reasonable price – recommended.

A great hotel in a great location, lovely sea views, very good breakfast and the staff very helpful and friendly. The steak was perfectly cooked ! We were staying for one night but ended up staying for two and ate in the restaurant both nights.
