Melrose Rethymno by Mage Hotels

Melrose hotel is an excellent choice. We traveled as a couple. The hotel is two minutes from the seaside promenade, beach and restaurants. At the same time, it is located in a quiet area. The rooms are very comfortable (I recommend the higher standard ones), cleaned every day. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful in every situation. After a few days, we felt taken care of like family. The breakfasts are very tasty, everyone will find something for themselves. Drink bar by the pool, fitness area and spa. The center of Rethymno is only a 20-minute walk away. We highly recommend this place.

Excellent location. I have nothing but praise for this hotel! Everything superlative!! Modern rooms / very good services / particularly kind staff. Breakfast was very good !! The bar services were exceptional!! Well prepared cocktails / very good food The swimming pool is very well maintained / also the fitness room .

Many companies and managers already know this, your staff is the heart of your business. And all I can say is that the Melrose hotel has a very big heart. Their friendly staff could not have made us feel more welcome. Everything else was nice, clean and comfortable as you may expect from a 4-star hotel, but the staff was always there for you with a smile. A few extra facts: Breakfast: perfect, fresh and very varied. Swimming pool: nice and quiet, a welcome oasis of rest in the busy town of Rethymno. Location: very close to the beach, 50 meters or so. Close to the boulevard, that leads into the old town and harbor. Supermarkets, just one block away. We did not rent a car, since everything is within walking distance. Rooms: spacious, clean and well kept. As there is always room for improvement, I have one suggestion for the hotel… please work on your playlist for the pool area. One can only bear so many mellow songs a day :-)

This is the second time I have been here with my wife. Once again it was a pleasure to stay at Melrose. I have only nice memories. Junior suite room is what we had as last year. Clean, comfortable, pleasant. We had nice breakfast (we eat in the city the rest), plenty of choices. We received complementary wine, water and coffee. Personnel is kind. Big TV with internet. Big size bed, nice bathroom. Good cleaning service. Close to the beach. Wish to come again.

Ideal location, close to beach. Room was immaculately clean when we arrived and was cleaned daily. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of choice for breakfast, both cooked and continental. Both pool areas clean and inviting. Perfect choice!

We were greeted with a smile every time we interacted with the staff. Upon arrival, we found a complimentary, large bottle of water and white wine in the room fridge, and a bottle of Raki, which was a nice touch. The hotel has a great location - close enough to the beach, restaurants, and old town, but far enough away to be peaceful. I'm not sure if the Melrose is an adults-only hotel, but there were no children around so it was an extremely relaxed and tranquil stay. I enjoyed my balcony view, which allowed me to admire the beach and cats as the evening drew near. While all the staff were great, we’d like to give particular thanks to Maria, Ilyas, Chrissy, and the owner/manager (sorry, I didn't catch your name), who were always on hand to answer our questions and provide suggestions for things to do, such as visiting Lake Kournas, Plakias, and Preveli beach. They also made an effort to help us find vegetarian-friendly restaurants, which we struggled with throughout our stay. They were quick to answer our emails before our stay and arranged hotel transfers to/from Chania with a top guy, Stelios. There was a great variety for breakfast and I also wanted to thank the chefs for our daily custom omelettes. Special shout out to the lovely hostesses Nikoletta, Sofia, and Danae, who went above and beyond to ensure we were looked after. The outdoor pool area was spacious and clean, and we didn’t feel like we were fighting for sun loungers, although we didn’t spend much time at the hotel pool. We organised massages through the hotel as it was raining on our first day. He did a much better job than most sports massage therapists I've used back home! The hotel’s partnership with a local car hire company, Greenways, made hiring a car easy, and the reception staff sorted everything out for us. My only issue was with the young lady who met us to drop off the car keys; she was a little rude and had a bit of an attitude, but this does not reflect the hospitality received from the hotel staff at Melrose in any way. We struggled to find parking for our car rental and had to circle the block several times before finding something. Overall, we had an excellent, relaxed stay and would gladly return.
