Royal Oak Ramsden

We’ve just returned from a 3 day Cotswold break staying at the gorgeous Royal Oak in Ramsden. It’s quite honestly one of the best stays we’ve had in the UK. It’s the most delightful period Inn, full of Cotswold charm. The bar area is cosy with a nice open fire and has a fantastic selection of local, beers, ales and gins. It’s all complemented by a wonderful restaurant which is set in a spectacularly decorated conservatory area which compliments the age of the inn perfectly. The quality of the food was exceptional. The breakfast menu included such alternative delights such as steak and eggs and shakshuka eggs as well as your traditional full English but it’s just so very rustic and tasty. We were planning to eat out every night but such were the tasty looking menus we decided to have dinner there twice and we were not disappointed. I had the most delicious prawn and lobster pasta dish and a mouth watering fully loaded ox cheek and bone marrow burger with the best truffle and Parmesan/Alioli chips that I’ve ever tasted. The starters and desserts were equally as good. Finally, there was our room…. It was huge and beautifully equipped and decorated full of Cotswold style. The large roll top bath and walk in shower was everything we could have wanted and it made for a wonderful place to relax. The service was very good too. We cannot recommend this place more.

We had a wonderful stay in a lovely room and had a really good night's sleep. The bed was very comfortable and with a thinner duvet than most hotels we didn't get too hot - additional bedding was available if you got chilly. Both bedroom and bathroom were well stocked with all the necessary amenities but the very helpful staff were on hand to help out with anything else. We had a very tasty Valentine's dinner in the pub but were also tempted by the main menu so may have to make a return very soon. A generous breakfast was a great end to a very enjoyable stay

We visited today Christmas Eve for lunch at 1.30pm and we were greeted warmly when we arrived. We were allocated a really good table for 2 and given menus and a drinks order taken. The food was just excellent and to start we chose the seafood sharing plate which was just superb followed by venison and the chicken milanese, both really good. Dessert to share as we were nearly full was a winter brulee rice pudding. Followed by 2 great coffees. The whole experience was just so enjoyable with knowledgeable and friendly staff. I would thoroughly recommend this wonderful establishment. We will return again without hesitation

A truly characterful Inn located in a picturesque village. Stayed one night only with my sister after a full day at Blenheim Christmas. A big friendly welcome on our arrival and great hospitality from all the staff we had dealings with. Lovely big bedrooms and bathrooms with quaint touches. Very good food in the evening and at breakfast. Wound definitely stay again.

Although small, our room was thoughtfully furnished and bed very comfortable. Nice quality touches, including leaving a port nightcap option along with the tea and coffee! The hotel bar and dining areas were also artfully furnished and staff ((and l must give Georgia a shout out, bless her) were cheerful and helpful, which goes a long way in giving guests a relaxing and positive stay. Definitely recommend it - visit the Royal Oak for a lovely meal or a chilled out break.

We stayed on a Sunday night on the attic room. We chose this room specifically because it had a roll top both and we knew a hot bath would be essential after a long walk. The spiral staircase is not for the faint hearted but worth it when you reach the quaint room at the top! I’ve never stayed in a B&B where they leave you a tot of port as a nightcap, a lovely touch. We had a roast dinner which was amazing and all of the bar and waiting staff were super friendly. The cooked breakfast the next morning was epic too! We will definitely be back in the new year and have already recommended to friends and family.
