Château Šanov

Definitely a place with high ambitions, but with some issues, connected to the remoteness of the hotel and also with the style chosen. The rooms are quiet and overall well-equipped, the staff helpful and friendly, the restaurant offers a decent breakfast, but the evening five or three course dinners could be improved.

At our arrival there was nobody at the reception. We were welcomed by loud hockey in the TV which is really not a thing for chateau. After about 10 min we went to ask at the bar and decided to have lunch until someone decides to turn up at the reception. We had lunch outside, it was a bit sad ambience, no music, no people, no waiters, slow service. Food quality very poor, I had pasta and my friend had salad. Overall, wellness is nice, massage average. They don't turn on saunas on Sunday as it is not worth for THEM. They expect you to leave after breakfast. Service is like in 3 star hotel, they have looooong way to go to be comparable to other chateau in Czech Republic like Mcely, Ratmerice or Heralec. Dinner option is only 5 course and you need to come to restaurant when they tell you. You have no freedom in choosing ala carte. In the room there is pink and grey bathrobe, as if only they were expecting couples. Very inappropriate. I wouldn't return, it is a cheap place trying to save every crown. Pity, as rooms are beautiful and it is set up in amazingly nice nature.
