Hotel Casa Montero

This was a great place right on the square in Old Town Quito. Because we had 4 adults, we stayed in the family suite. Imagine our surprise to see a washer and dryer and a complete apartment! The place was very clean and beds were comfortable. The tasty breakfast was in an open-air dining area with great views. The staff was very helpful and allowed us to store luggage there while on a trip away from Quito. We would stay here again!

Stayed in January 2024. Arrived late and was welcomed with a smile. Rooms are comfortable and quiet since mine looked out into the closed inner lobby. Breakfast was great (two eggs cooked to your liking, fruit, toast with butter and jam, juice, and coffee). The breakfast room has the nicest of views. The square where the hotel is located is lovely but it does get very quiet at night. The hotel is very safe. I did step out after dark, particularly to head to a small backstreet right behind the hotel (La Ronda), which had plenty of cute restaurants. During the day, there is no issue walking anywhere. BTW, there is a metro station (San Francisco) nearby in case you are visiting places located further away (the metro felt safe). The hotel was quiet during my stay due to the bad press around visiting Ecuador but I received white glove treatment from the personnel.

I loved this hotel and would return without hesitation. Its location is outstanding: right in the center of the old city. Security is good, and the staff give great advice on where to go and how to stay safe. They are so attentive and kind. The room was nice and clean. And the Breakfast is tasty, with an amazing view the Virgin of El Panecillo.

This hotel sits in the SE corner of the Centro Historico of Quito and is located for easy access to all the attractions of the area. The hotel has an unassuming entrance on the Plaza de Santo Domingo (such that my out of town taxi driver could not find it; he phoned the hotel to find that we were parked outside but still did not see it). Entrance to the hotel is up stairs - reception staff kindly carried my suitcase - into an atrium around which the rooms are situated. Only a few look over the street and most open into the sunny atrium. My room was quite large with a comfortable bed and adjacent wardrobe. The ensuite was basic but with everything you need. Note - as with most of Ecuador toilet paper cannot be flushed down the toilet. The reception staff were polite and helpful, supplying maps and advice. The hotel was secure with all guests having to be buzzed in by reception upon entry. The area around the hotel and indeed the whole Centro Historico is well represented by police presence, it seemed on every corner. I was advised by the tourist police not to wander outside this area as it was not considered safe for tourists. Breakfast was fruit, juice, toast, cooked eggs with tea/coffee. This set me up nicely for the day.

Pretty good hotel with a nice design, good location close enough to historical centre. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good. Rooms are spacious and clean. The only downside I can come up with is the noise from the street.

Exactly what is promised - good, clean and picturesque hotel, with very helpful staff (Reuben and Alexander), wonderful ambience and excellent location. The views are nice (from rooms with outside windows), and being just on the Plaza de Santo Domingo is very nice for relaxing and as a landmark. Most importantly, the lodging itself is very welcoming. I would stay here again on another visit to Quito.
