I just spent 3 nights at the Viajero Quito, and it’s probably the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Great location, great shower, comfortable private room. The hostel has its own restaurant and bar/common area, and tons of outdoor space as well. What stands out though, is the effort from the staff. All friendly and helpful, and they host free activities daily. Two options in the evening that change every day, and a free walking tour (mostly about free samples) every day. Thanks to Adrian in the restaurant, Grace for the educational candy tasting and fruit tasting sessions, and Jonathan for the fun salsa lesson.

My fiancé and I arrived at this hostel in the afternoon of January 9th when the conflict and city lockdown occurred. We had absolutely no idea what was going on before we arrived, but the staff at Viajero made sure we were safe getting to the hostel as well as being inside. They explained the situation to us and our options and ensured we would be completely safe within the hostel. They did an amazing job of monitoring who was coming and going and making sure only guests who were leaving to go to the airport were allowed out. We did not receive a welcome drink or breakfast tickets that day, but with everything going on we completely understood. Viajero staff did an amazing job of keeping everyone in the hostel occupied that night with updated information, a chocolate tasting, plenty of drinks and food from the kitchen. The restaurant was very nice. The breakfast was $4 and included cereal, juice, yogurt and granola, fruit, and a main meal usually pancakes or eggs. We were not explained the breakfast tickets when we checked in, but we were okay to pay cash that morning when we ate. Dinner was not our favorite, but there was nowhere else to go. The nachos have toppings but no melted cheese or salsa. The next morning, we were told that the military stopped by and said the area was safe and we were okay to walk around again. Viajero staff was more than willing to call La Basilica and Mitad del Mundo for us to make sure they were still open. They were also very helpful in advising us to be back before 6pm and which areas we needed to take a taxi or the best way to get to La Ronda at night for dinner. We stayed in the room right above the entrance to the hostel which was very big and had a balcony and private bathroom. Unfortunately, our balcony was closed for us (there were just some doors closed that we could open but we did not want to.) This would've been a really cool view to have but did place us very close to the street. There is a bus route that runs right in front of the hostel, and it could be quite loud at night or in the early morning 5:30/6 am. The bathroom was very clean and shower was warm. Overall, the hostel staff was very friendly and helpful. They made sure we were safe our entire stay. The cats fight in the garden but sometimes like each other and are very cute. The hostel was clean, organized, and we met some amazing people here!

Amazing hostel one block from Calle de La Rhonda. We had a studio room which was perfect for our family of 4. The room was huge, comfy beds, bathrooms throughout are clean, lots of fun activities in the common areas. It is in a beautiful, old character building so there are a lot of squeaks on floors and thin walls so if you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Amazing hostel! My partner and I stayed in a private room overlooking the yard, with gorgeous tangerine trees, singing birds, and string lights at night. The rooms are clean, very comfortable, and cool. We had the breakfast and it was super tasty and made fresh to order. Also, we had dinner at the attached restaurant and it was quite good! They seemed to have events like cooking classes and a really nice Christmas Eve dinner with music and a DJ (but we were too sick to appreciate both). The hostel has a really nice vibe, lots of gorgeous murals and art, places to hang out and play ping pong or games, or just read. We liked the location (historical district) for our purposes. Also, the front desk, cleaning, and kitchen staff were super helpful and kind. I would absolutely recommend this place to my friends! Note that it can be noisy from the bar, so if you want absolute quiet this may not be for you. We just used earplugs/didn't mind a little noise.

The whole hostel just felt fresh. It's massive but doesn't feel that way. There's art everywhere! The female dorm was private, clean, and the beds were very comfortable. Lots of hangout areas as well. There's an activity board so there's something cool to do nearly every evening. Also the room was cleaned every day. The public bathrooms were never dirty either. Just a solidly clean place.

Nothing fancy, eco minimalist decor inside rooms. Very clean. Quiet except the street noise. Staff was friendly enough, restaurant had some good dishes. It’s in the historic district and everything closes down by 7pm and not safe to be walking around.

I’ve only been here a couple of hours and love it already. They offered to organise a driver, Luis for the airport transfer - he whatsapp’ed me 24 hours before arrival (so reassuring when you’re arriving in a country for the first time) - and meeting him at arrivals was effortless. Adrian, chilled helpful guy checked me in. Gabriela housekeeping staff showed me to my room which exceeded expectations. Great atmosphere (but it’s early so very quiet right now). Spotlessly clean. Lovely staff. Fantastic breakfast. Garden is gorgeous. Also The building has been beautifully restored throughout. I’ll post some pics. And just for context I’m a 55-year independent solo traveller; I could have stayed in an expensive hotel but i find them soulless, so I chose to stay here. It won’t be perfect for everyone, but I’m sure this along with other reviews will paint a rounded picture about suitability.

Great Place to stay in Quito. The location is perfect, you are in the center of everything. The price for the location and amenities is unbearable. They have both share and solo rooms. And the crew is friendly and knowledgeable, specially Nathaly, who was always there, day and night, Christy & Grace who were always ready to help with a smile. Love it!
