Hotel Terrasse Dufferin

This was my second time visiting this hotel. The first time was 30 years ago and stayed in the suite. The suite is spacious and great for a family. View is wonderful and has a little kitchen. This visit with only one room left we stayed in the basement. Honestly it’s small but we only slept in there! Bare bones and nothing has changed in 30 years but I don’t mind that personally. The best qualities about this hotel is the staff and location! Emily was a delight to work with and so accommodating. Check in was effortless. Small treats are in the fridge to get you going in the morning including orange juice. The location is amazing with views of the at Lawrence and minutes to street entertainment. We will be back!! Thank you!

Zina and Amelie were 10/10 excellent hostesses - friendly and extremely attentive to all our needs, including recommending where to eat & addressing room concerns. The fridge was stocked with complementary drinks & snacks. The hotel is located in old town directly next to the US embassy, across the Fairmont Chateau, and is within walking distance to/from everything. Parking was easily accessible. As far as location and the staff, this hotel is a 10/10. Now unto the hotel - the physical building and room themselves - resemble a hostel and are in desperate need of renovation and a paint job on the outside. We did not get restful sleep as beds were either too firm or too soft & the pillows were old and thin. The floor between the room and kitchen was separated by a 1in platform, which is an accident waiting to happen. The room does not have central air conditioning; instead it has a window unit that is pretty old and loud, so it was difficult to sleep in the night. But we are very thankful to Zina, who did her best to resolve the issue. The carpets had stains, wallpaper was peeled/ripped/torn, and the bathroom doors and walls were yellowed. The outlets upstairs did not work, except for one in the spare bedroom meant for kids. This hotel could be a "cherry on top" with its excellent location and staff, but as is, it's a 2-star hotel. What a great place! I was looking for something that would be in the center of everything and have a good view. I found it at the hotel Terrasse Dufferin. Amelie was helpful to update my reservation to a room with a balcony and it did not disappoint! The room itself had a nice living space with a kitchenette, the bathroom was clean and the bedroom was comfy and had a bureau/work desk. The balcony had a small table for me to enjoy watching the sunset and have a few beers. The building is old but it’s got a nice charm to it. This place does not have elevators so plan on walking up and downstairs If you’re on any of the upper floors. I also like the fact that this hotel is just a few steps away from shops, restaurants, and most nearby attractions. If you’re in Quebec City I would definitely recommend this place to call home while you’re in town. Also, thank you Amelie for arranging for a driver to pick me up at the airport, so convenient!

Excellent Management. What an amazing experience. Wonderful Management that was so intuitive. Every thinkable convenience that you would need , they provide. Extra towels no problem, things to do no problem. Amazing location and very well kept hotel. This little gem was so perfect in every way . It’s amazing management like this that make your holiday great and memorable. Special thank you to Amelie for making such a wonderful time for us .

Is this a brand new luxury hotel? No. Is it an older, clean building that has some of the most magnificent views in Quebec City? Yes! The building is old (180 years) but is has been kept up nicely, and we loved the eccentricities of the older building. There is no elevator, so be prepared for a climb. We had Room 14, which has a balcony. That alone made this stay absolutely amazing! We sat out for coffee in the morning and for wine at night. Dufferin Terrace is just below, the river right in front, and the Chateau to the left. IT WAS AMAZING. Splurge for the balcony! The price is great for being this centrally located. The staff is fantastic. Our room was clean and comfortable. Amélie was so friendly and helpful, answering questions and calling a taxi. Everyone spoke both French and English very well, so there was no confusion (because my French is not too good). We want to return in the winter soon--and this is where we'll be staying again. Thanks for an amazing 6 days in Quebec!

Awesome little gem in maybe the best location in the city overlooking Dufferin Terrace. Spotlessly clean, great staff who were friendly and helpful. Nice common kitchen and garden outside for guest use. I had the one bedroom apartment on the top floor, great view down the river. Restaurants close by as well as a small grocery store, close to the funiculaire and bus.

This is a nice little hotel in an amazing location in Old Quebec (practically next to the Fairmont, and fronting the promenade overlooking the St. Lawrence). It is by no means a luxurious or trendy hotel, but it is clean and very reasonable rates for the location, and the management was very friendly (and spoke both French and English), and they accommodated my late evening arrival with self-check in instructions. I had a regular queen room without the river view (it just looked onto the other buildings behind the hotel), which was perfectly fine, especially if you plan to be out and about most of the day. There was some light noise from the room directly overhead, but overall it was fairly quiet (it is a small hotel, so there aren't many other guests to make noise!) There was no included breakfast, but the room was stocked with free little snacks in the refrigerator (granola bar, etc.) and had a small in-room coffeemaker w/coffee and tea provided. The location was great - I walked everywhere (to/from train station, all around upper and lower old city, to/from Plains of Abraham and port area where the Strom spa is, and to/from St. Roch (a trendier neighborhood below the old city). As long as you are prepared for uphill/downhill on walks, there's no need for a car if you stay here. I would definitely stay here again if I were to revisit Quebec!

From beginning to end, this was a wonderful stay. Amelie makes the whole experience fantastic. She is the perfect host: helpful, responsive, warm, delightful. Our room on the third floor was like a one-bedroom apartment. Bright, immaculately clean, warm, with a beautiful view of the river. Location is excellent between the Chateau and the toboggan slide, a few feet away from restaurants, shops, and Christmas markets. We can't wait to return!

We arrived at Hotel Terrasse Dufferin and WOW what an awesome surprise. We were greeted by Amélie, who instantly made us feel welcome and like we were the most important guests ever! The hotel in our opinion is perfectly situated right near the Chateau with views of the river. Our room was also great we couldn’t fault it, large and very comfortable. We originally booked for 2 and stayed for 5 nights. Amélie and Simon have only taken over the hotel recently, we wish them the very best in their new venture with all the plans for improvements they have and are positive they will be extremely successful. We will be back!!
