It’s an iconic hotel, but very dated even down to the hotel doorman costume. Aside from the carpet, everything else was great about the room. The price is very reasonable for the location (close to railway and seaside!) and room. Incredible views. Housekeeping gentleman on floor 5 was the kindest and friendliest staff member, and unfortunately we found the rotating restaurant staff to be the least friendly or helpful (both breakfast and dinner). They do have baby dining utensils and sets and chairs available at the restaurant.

It is not a new hotel, but it is clean and perfectly situated. This is my second visit and I never leave disappointed. The food and service are great, friendly, helpful staff.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay here in an ocean-view family room. We received a room upgrade, breakfast deal and warm welcome at check in from the receptionist (Ms 亓静, 3030). We also received great service, including extra water and hotel gifts from staff (Ms 杨艳飞， 5089）. We would highly recommend this hotel to others.

We stayed at the hotel for three nights. The location of the hotel is very conveniently close to the beach and touristy attractions. It has a nice rotating restaurant and breakfast was amazing. The view from the restaurant overlooks the whole city and ocean and it is a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The service was also very good. Just for that I will book at this hotel again. The rooms are a bit old fashioned and stuffy and can do with a revamp and the balcony was a bit of a disappointment, as you only get a partial sea view, but it was still a good experience. We did come home finding a few fleas in our bags. Probably from the carpet in the room, or could also have been transported from the beach sand.

The cleanliness of the hotel is disappointing. The floors were dirty and streaky, and there were leftover labels from previous guests’ toiletries in the bathroom. The windows were very dirty as well. The soundproofing is poor—you can hear people in the neighboring rooms. On the positive side, foreigners are allowed to stay, and the location is good. It’s just a 7-minute walk to the metro.

My wife liked the hotel despite not having a sea view so I extended one more day. The hotel is old and so is all facilities. Breakfast options were plenty but i guess it was meant for chinese taste. Bathing no. 1 beach is right across the street. It is near Qingdao underwater world and aquarium. There are food in the nearby street. The revolving restaurant is a good experience but I had better before. The food in the second day is the same. i meant literally the same food serve, not just the menu. Hong Kong restaurant near the lobby offers delicious food.Weather became bad so we weren’t able to enjoy our stay to the fullest. Overall experience was average.

Best breakfast with fantastic views

The location is superb: right on the old German former "Kaiser Wilhelm swimming beach" (currently called "Bathing Beach 1"). What I did was getting up at 7am and going straight for a swim at the Beach. I'd then spend 2-3 hours on the beach swimming and sunbathing, come back to the hotel to change and go for a nice European/Mexican/Cuban/German lunch at the respective restaurants in town. I'd come back and take a nap before going for an after-sunset swim at the beach around 7-8 pm. After that -- seafood dinner at the outdoor diners right across from the Beach. Very nice and relaxing once you've spent 10 days doing that. I enjoyed the stay, thank you.

Good location with nice view. But very old and has not been renovated. Carpet is dirty, service not up to the standard as a 5-star hotel. Restaurant mediocre. Overall not too bad.

I was really disappointed with my stay at this hotel again. I stayed here for the first time a year ago in June for Dragon Boat Festival and it was fantastic. So I decided to stay here for May 1st holidays. Unfortunately that turned out to be a huge mistake. During the day in Qingdao during this time the weather is good between 22-25 degrees Celsius but still cold at night between 13-15 degrees. For me the heat needs to be on but to my horror there was no heat, only cold air. So I ended up getting sick. On top of that it didn't matter if it was breakfast or dinner, the buffet food was cold. The only hot food was something made in front of you like an omlet. Even before I found out all this, when I got to my room it wasn't what I paid for. I paid for the multi-level suite. I still had a suite but I have no idea if the cost was at least the same and I didn't care for it. The bed was great though but even with another blanket on top didn't keep me warm enough with no heat at night. 😓

Location is excellent, food is quite nice. But pretty old style inside room.

The hotel is close to the sea, there are shops with normal prices for food, there are cafes and restaurants nearby, the staff are friendly and helpful

Swimming pool is open short hours. Everything else was quite ok.
