It was very nice. The host is super friendly and the location is close to everything we needed for our short trip. Super recommended if you need to go to Qingdao Station because it’s 10 minutes away. There are free shampoo and body soap but they don’t provide towels.

We stayed in a very comfortable private room with bathroom, which was super-clean and spacious. The owner, "Mr. Wheat", brought mosquito coils every evening, so we slept perfectly in this courtyard hostel. There was no noise, despite the busy food alley next door. Shower and water pressure was powerful, with great towels. The owner will provide shampoo, etc, if you request it. The public area has big tables and a shade umbrella in the summer, and resident cats and a sweet bird add friendliness. Speaking of friendly, we must compliment the wonderful owners! Ms. Wu speaks English, and gave us tips and ideas for food, etc. Mr. "Wheat" carried my heavy bag upstairs and brought us peaches. They are kind and friendly but not imposing. This was my 3rd time staying at Wheat Hostel, & I'm sure to return again. Walk over to Zhongshan Metro, walk to the city beach, walk to coffee shops, etc. Also close to the train station.

My mobile recharge line doesn't work, and the staff finds me an new one during my late check-in at 9pm. You can find seafood restaurants nearby and they are in good price. The place is easy to find and room is clean. Good value for price. The only drawback is TV is not working.

This hostel is lovely and warm and welcoming. We loved our spacious double room and the hot shower was excellent. But far and above the best part is the family who runs it. Every little glimpse you get into their lives reveals something new and fascinating. They seem to be musicians and photographers and deep readers and explorers. Really cool all around. I was accidentally a pain in the **** our first night in the hostel, and they were still lovely to me. I'm a single mom and stayed here with my son. They were delightful to him, and it was a great safe environment for him. And the location is amazing.

The Wheat Youth Hostel is the place to be in Qingdao. We had so lovely stay...couldn't be better! The owners really made the experience unforgettable. We had to send our bicycles and luggage by train, and they kindly agreed to receive all the packages and keep it until we arrived. We arrived late at night, and they were waiting for us to do the check in, and surprise us upgrading our room to the biggest and best one they had, as they knew we had a long journey. Next day, they invited us to a delicious dinner on the terrace, and it was absolutely wonderful, we shared good conversations and travel stories.. and the hostel is just beautiful, an historical building with a lot of interesting stories. Thank you so much family, we will come back soon!!

Cute hotel with nice amenities. Also the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Very convenient location as next street over from tourist attractions and wonderful eateries on Zhongshan Lu road. Our street quiet. Owners gave us extra help as we came down with flu during the week stay...they even offered to accompany us to see a doctor and made homemade breakfast for us. Wonderful hospitality. Dated facility that is well maintained, very safe, as someone on site 24 hours. Recommend to stay.

Nice vibe, good location, friendly owner,and allow foreigners. It’s better when peak season coming.

After having a bad experience at another hotel, and then denied service from another for being a foreigner this hostel came to our rescue. We booked and turned up within half an hour. We were checked in quickly and they sorted our room for us. The hostel has great character and different options of rooms for people’s needs. The service was great, everyone very helpful. A little English is spoken which is also very helpful for future tourists. Thank you for a great stay.

Lovely place with lovely people and all very clean with good facilities

The best place I stayed in China. Very charming courtyard and everything in good, clean and working condition. The owner is a well traveled man and knows well what makes a really good hostel.

nice hostel in beautiful old building with backyard, bird nests and goldfishes. beds were comfy though far away from the shower and toilet (which was down one floor accross the yard). during my stay some parts of the place where under refurbishment and the backyard as a common space was not much in use.

Good location. Old, has its charme. Could be a bit more clean I.e. the toilet situation and blanket. But overall still very good. Careful: they close the gate at 12am
