Shams Alam Beach Resort

My family and I have been to the hotel four times. In the beginning the reef was amazing but with each visit it got worse. At the hotel there is no reef, its all dead. There are fish, turtles but the reef looks like rocks. Besides the bad state of the reef the water at times is like swimming in milk. The visibility is poor and swimming is bad due to strong winds, currents and sand blowing. The standard of the hotel is poor for the price you pay. At the moment the hotel is undergoing renovations and no travel agent informs about it. So while on holiday at Shams half of it is closed yet the prices are the same. The hotel offers no compensation for undergoing renovations, there's also no wifi and do not buy simcards or wifi from the guy at the shop at the hotel as its a scam. Only at the airport buy simcards with wifi. The food was ok but nothing out of the ordinary. The staff is amazing, helpful, the best and its not their fault the hotel is of poor quality charging high prices for holidays. We were disapointed in general and won't come here the fifth time. Our friends were here 2 months ago, our family was here 1 week ago and we share a negative opinion. For the prices paid for Shams one can get better quality at other hotels in Egypt- this is the owners fault of Shams

Don't buy sim card in the hotel, they are scamming people, yeah i know that i needed buy sim card in airport, but there was reason i dont do that..first it is very expencive here, 40 eur for 20 gb. On next day i got a message that i am reach out of limit (after 2gb usage). When i come to seller, there was another guy, he sayd that maybe guy who selled me sim card dont understand me, becouse this guy is bad in english (yea, sure, 40eur for 2gb good deal.) Ok, he fixed my issue, but in the end of my vocation after 10 gb usage (i have data monitor) i got again message that i am reach out limit :). Seller start works at 10AM, my transfer to airport was 9:30Am, so no chance to explain about another "mistake". I telled about this scamm in reception, but there is no one interested in this. Everything rest in hotel is good, service, food, coral reef.

For the second time we stay on Shams Alam, first time was in 2018. The place is always perfect for what I love more in a village: friendly staff, great food, amazing reef for snorkelling, not too much people. What can be improve are: the beach bed are old and heavy, but beach boys are always kind and helps more than expectation. The linen are quite old and deserved to be replaced, but still clean. The Room need a refresh, some part are damaged by sun/humidity, but staff do a great job cleaning it. As italian I want kindly ask to management to rescheduling the Expresso Coffee availability immediately at morning. This will be a added value. Cappuccino was missed at breakfast :) And please considering to shifting the clock forward 1-2 hours to have more light.
