I cannot say enough about our stay at Los Altos. Not sure how it is only rated #30 of hotels in Manuel Antonio. We stayed in an adults only townhouse (#6) with Andrey as our butler. Andrey was incredible, recommended and booked dinner reservations, arranged our tours, taxis, and drivers around the resort whenever we requested (getting from the resort entrance to/from our townhouse when it rained), and got us anything else we needed. They also arranged our transportation to and from the airport, $210 each way for the approximately 3 hour drive. Very easy and would recommend. The townhouse itself was gorgeous, and well stocked with many complimentary goodies when we arrived. More small goodies came at each turndown. The view from the townhouses is breathtaking. Bring a pair of binoculars and sit on your upstairs balcony, lay in your bed or take a dip in your plunge pool and watch pairs of macaws fly by or troupes of monkeys move through the trees. Just let the wonderful staff - drivers, front desk, and beach staff in particular - know you are interested in seeing sloths and they will find them and point them out to you. The hotel has a cat, Tigre, that lives at the guardhouse that we visited everyday. The guardhouse staff were super friendly and I enjoyed speaking my broken Spanish with them while visiting Tigre. We only ate on property once, room service our first night, and the food was very good. The hotel is within walking distance of many good restaurants. The location is one thing we really liked, some places to stay are not nearly as accessible to all Manuel Antonio has to offer. We ate at Cafe Milagro (get the banana pancakes), Emilio’s Cafe (highly recommend curry and whole red snapper), Enzo’s (bento box offered at lunchtime), Claro Que Si (good ceviche but oddly enough this was our most expensive yet least favorite meal), Samui, and Falafel Bar. All were good, some excellent. However my husband and I agree our favorite meal was the lunch after our ATV tour followed by a breakfast at Soda Angel (local spot recommended by Andrey), just good local food and much less expensive than the other restaurants. I also recommend going to the grocery store (go to the bigger one a bit further but still walkable to the hotel for the best prices) and just get fresh fruit for breakfast that you can cut up with items provided in the kitchenette at the townhouse. We only went to the main pool once because we had our own plunge pool but the main pool area is very nice, lots of shaded spots (some with ceiling fans), in addition to sun for all preferences. Order from the poolside bar and they will bring drinks to you in the pool. We enjoyed the drinks with lots of fresh fruit. The view from the pool is beautiful. I wasn’t sure how much we would use our plunge pool but we used it everyday, loved being able to come back from a morning of activities and cool off in our own pool. It was a big draw of the townhouses for us and it did not disappoint. Perhaps
