Dhensa Resort

We were very lucky to have planned our trip with Travel Guru in Thimphu. This meant we were able to stay in the very nice resort in Phunaka. Everything was excellent, very nice, puristic decor and very, very good food. Unfortunately too short. Next time we will plan at least 2-3 days. The hotel is beautifully situated in the forest. Incredible location amidst a forest, on the top of a hill. This resort is built in a very modern yet traditional style, a real treat to the eyes. Rooms are very spacious and very comfortable, including the bathrooms. Wonderful water pressure and temperature. We only stayed for a day - wish we had spent another day here. We also had our dinner and breakfast here and they were both so delicious! They took real good care of us.

A week long sojourn across Bhutan, eventually at one point had us driving into this wonderland of a place for what was to become a memorable stay amidst pristine nature & uncluttered forests in Punakha, Bhutan. Yes! After an exhilarating two days in Thimphu, Bhutan, we decided to head to Punakha which is the slightly more laid back of all settlements in Bhutan. Punakha as a district is easily accessible from all ends of Bhutan since it is close to exactly the centre of the country or for that matter, can also be referred to as central bhutan. The scenic drive from Thimphu to Punakha covered some of the most beautiful stretches of land there are to see in the entire country including the renowned Dochu La pass. The incredibly large expanses of pine tree forests are an absolute treat to the eyes & can be relaxing & soothing to look at while in Punakha. We stayed at Dhensa Boutique, a comfortable yet classy option for all stay requirements in Punakha, Bhutan. We were welcomed with great warmth & shown great hospitality right from the instant we set foot on the premises. Our room was a spacious deluxe room overlooking what appeared to be a small stretch of the forest land adorning the very picturesque Punakha valley. The hotel has a cultural song & dance programme within its premises, which is also a great way to partake of the local variety of music & a style of dance which is grace personified. The food was delicious, & served in the most incredible ambience imaginable at their in house restaurant. Special mention to Kharga & Karma for their exceptional service in the restaurant day in & day out. A variety of beverages are also on offer at the restaurant, the choices ranging from hard liquor to a host of other drinks, albeit at a price. Chef Suraj, the head chef is very accommodating of all special food requests & even otherwise, doles out the most incredible dishes in what was easily a never ending food fiesta. In fact, a large part of our overall satisfying stay at the Dhensa boutique could be attributed to the quality of food we were treated to by chef Suraj, so much so that he has become a household name now and his food, a part of our dinner table conversations. And while I mention him, I cannot possibly overlook mentioning the special ‘pahaadi khichdi’ a day prior to our departure. Easily one of the most special of all gestures extended to us amongst all other aspects of our stay. All in all, a very satisfying stay & undoubtedly, a lifelong memory. Highly recommended !

U will be fallen in love once you enteted this property, nestled between pine forest traditional modern interior so relaxed peaceful away from Punakha town. Love the reception area, staffs are polite & humble, dinner & breakfast have multiple choices,quality of food is high in standard indian continental Bhutanese cuisine available, ordering some food may takes a lot of time what we experience other than this everything is cool, At evening staffs will perform local folk dance at the courtyard for all the guests. Amazing hospitality and food,probably the best in Bhutan. Chef Suraj has magic in hands. Great view of Punakha Town. The cultural dance in the evening is must attend for everyone staying in Punakha. Amazing comfy and cozy rooms. We are glad we chose to spend our holiday at Dhensa Resort.

Bhutanese architecture is beautiful, but after a week of seeing nothing but Bhutanese architecture, Dhensa was a great change of pace. The property is wonderfully peaceful. The spa experience was outstanding. The staff fell over themselves to provide good service.
